There may be times when we watch the news and we hear something so horrific that we have a difficult time believing it actually happened. That was what happened recently when a group of young teenage boys beat a 13-year-old boy to death.
It happened in China, and three boys have now been taken into custody after killing the junior high school student. It happened in the Hebei province, in a small city called Handan.
They found the boy’s body the following day in a greenhouse that had been abandoned. Security footage showed the young boy, who was identified as Wang sitting in a corner in a scooter. His phone died about an hour later and they started searching.
This drew some attention because of the way that young children are dealt with in these types of cases in China. In 2021, the age of criminal responsibility was lowered to 12, and all the boys are under the age of 14. They are possibly facing the death penalty.
The father spoke about what his son experienced in the final moments of his life. He said: “He was beaten alive and his body was disfigured beyond recognition,” adding, “I hope the government will be fair, open and just, punish them severely, and that the killers will pay with their lives.”
At this time, Chinese law says that murder is punishable by imprisonment for the death penalty but if you are under 18, you can’t be given the death penalty.
Prior to the incident, reports are that the young boy had been bullied and was forced to give his money to his classmates. They had dug the pit two times where he was buried. They are looking into this case carefully.
