8-Year-Old Australian Girl Becomes One of the Youngest Homeowners in the World

An amazing story has emerged from Melbourne, Australia, where an 8-year-old girl named Ruby McLellan has become one of the youngest homeowners in the world. With her father’s guidance and support, Ruby and her siblings, Angus (14) and Lucy (13), purchased a four-bedroom property valued at $440,000. Their goal is to make a future investment that is expected to double in value.

Children Making Smart Moves for Their Future

In a bold move to secure their children’s future, Ruby’s father, Cam McLellan, who is the CEO of a property investment company, decided to invest in a property for his kids. He believes that in ten years’ time, property prices will skyrocket and become “astronomical.” Having been in the property investment business for 30 years, Cam sees the current market conditions as favorable for investments and predicts a decrease in inflation and interest rates.

By putting the property into a trust, Cam and his wife Felicity plan to hold onto it until Lucy and Angus reach their early 20s. At that point, the house’s value is expected to significantly increase due to the “full growth property cycle.”

Learning the Value of Money and Hard Work

Cam and Felicity are passionate about teaching their children the importance of money and hard work. To involve the children in the process, they provided them with pocket money in exchange for helping with household chores. Each of the children contributed $2,000 towards the purchase of their first home. Through this experience, Ruby and her siblings are gaining a valuable understanding of buying and selling property at a young age.

In addition to saving up their pocket money, the children have also earned money by assisting their father with packing his best-selling book. Cam has written the book as a resource for his kids to use when they are old enough, outlining all the steps to building a property portfolio.

Looking Forward to a Bright Future

While some may argue that the children themselves did not buy the house, it is undeniable that this incredible opportunity provided by their father will set them on a path to financial security. Most people do not have the luxury of having a parent who is able to make such a generous gesture.

As Ruby embraces her role as the youngest homeowner in Australia, she states, “It feels pretty cool.” And indeed, it is! She is on her way to building a bright future, all thanks to the foresight and support of her loving family.
