Karoline Leavitt is leaving her position as White House press secretary at the end of August, but her role in President Donald Trump’s political operation is not ending. Leavitt confirmed that she plans to return to MAGA Inc., the Trump-aligned super PAC she previously worked with, as Republicans prepare for the 2026 midterm elections.

At just 28 years old, Leavitt made history as the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history when she took the position in 2025. After returning from maternity leave following the birth of her daughter in May, she announced that she would step away from the demanding White House role to spend more time with her family and two young children.

Leavitt has made clear that she will remain closely connected to Trump. She said the president asked her to continue serving as a top adviser from outside the White House and that she would remain an advocate for the MAGA movement and Republican Party. Trump and other senior officials have publicly praised her work as one of his most visible and trusted representatives.

Her departure leaves the White House with an important communications vacancy, with no successor publicly announced at the time described in the source. Meanwhile, Leavitt’s return to MAGA Inc. is expected to keep her active in Trump’s broader political operation as Republicans prepare for the 2026 midterm elections.
