Such terrifyingly heartbreaking news for Dwayne Johnson. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers

There are very few things most of us dread more than receiving an unexpected call to tell us a loved one has been involved in a serious accident.

If you’ve ever had to take such a call before you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. You’ll be able to relate to the instant flood of panic, the multitude of questions, and above all else, the prayers whispered in the hope that your friend or relative is going to be okay.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed yesterday that he was one half of such a terrifying phone call earlier this week, after his mother, Ata Johnson, was involved in a serious car accident on Thursday morning at around 3am.

As per Johnson’s Instagram post, his mother, 74, was driving a red Cadillac Escalade that collided with another vehicle. The superstar actor and former WWE wrestler uploaded an image of his mother’s car showing a great deal of damage to the front-passenger side.

Captioning the post, Johnson thanked God that “she’s ok” and stated that “angels of mercy watched over my mom.”

“She’ll survive and continue to get evaluated,” he went on. “This woman has survived lung cancer, tough marriage, head on collision with a drunk driver and attempted suicide. She’s a survivor, in ways that make angels and miracles real.”

Johnson didn’t give further details as to the circumstances surrounding the crash, but he did say that his mother will continue to be evaluated moving forward.

He also took the time to praise first responders for the way they’d handled the situation, both in helping his mother and doing their best to keep him calm and informed.

“Thank you LAPD & LAFD for being so caring & focused,” he wrote in his post. “Thanks for staying on phone and talking me thru it all.”

Signing off, the Black Adam star urged his millions of followers to show love for their parents.

“I got one parent left,” he wrote. “So if you still got your mom and dad make sure you hug ’em hard, cos you never know when you’ll get that 3am call we never want to get.”

In the past, the 50-year-old former professional wrestler has praised his mother’s strength and resilience. To honor her 72nd birthday in October 2020, he labeled her a “survivor”.

“We go down this unpredictable road of life and we never know what’s around the corner – so we do our best to treat every day for what it is – a true blessing,” Johnson wrote.

“And no one epitomizes that philosophy more than my mom. She’s a survivor so every single day, she lives life to the fullest and is a shining beacon of love, joy and kindness.”

Johnson’s father, a professional wrestler named Rocky Johnson, died at the age of 75 in 2020.

Thank God this accident didn’t have a worse outcome. Life can truly be so frighteningly unpredictable at times, which is why it’s always important to show love, compassion, and forgiveness wherever possible.
