Aerosmith Cancels Final Tour Dates Due to Steven Tyler’s Health Issues
It is with great sadness that Aerosmith has had to cancel six of their final tour dates for Peace Out: The Farewell Tour. The lead singer, Steven Tyler, recently shared a health update on Instagram that confirmed our worst fears.
Due to severe damage to his vocal cords, doctors have advised him to stop singing for the next 30 days. As a result, some shows, including the September 12th Toronto event, September 15th Chicago show, September 18th Detroit show, September 21st Raleigh show, and the September 27th Washington D.C. show, have been postponed until early 2024.
In a heartfelt statement to their loyal fans, Aerosmith expressed their disappointment about the situation. Steven Tyler shared his own heartbreak and explained the vocal cord damage he sustained during a recent performance, which caused subsequent bleeding.
However, the band wants to reassure their fans that they are determined to give them the performance they deserve. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available for those unable to attend. If you have any questions about refunds, please reach out to your point of purchase.
A Farewell Tour for Legends
Aerosmith’s Peace Out: The Farewell Tour was announced on May 1st, with 40 dates scheduled between September 2nd and January 26th. Unfortunately, due to the recent postponements, the tour will now finish at a later date. According to the latest reports, Aerosmith plans to resume their tour on Monday, October 11th.
Embarking on a farewell tour is quite an extraordinary feat, especially considering the age of the band members. Steven Tyler turned 75 years old in March, and the toll a 40-show tour takes on his body is unimaginable. Nevertheless, his determination to provide fans with an unforgettable experience is admirable, showcasing the selfless character he has demonstrated in the past.
A Heart for Philanthropy
In addition to his musical talents, Steven Tyler has also shown his heart of gold. In 2019, he played a significant role in establishing “Janie’s House,” a home for abused and neglected girls. He generously donated $500,000 to renovate the 82-acre building located just outside of Memphis. The name “Janie’s House” was inspired by Aerosmith’s hit song from 1989, “Janie’s Got a Gun.” This safe space aims to provide these young women with a place to heal and find refuge in times of need.
As fans, let us join together in hoping for a swift recovery for Steven Tyler. We eagerly await the day when he can get back on his feet and continue doing what he does best – mesmerizing audiences with his timeless music and incredible performances!
