Lisa Kudrow considering adopting Matthew Perry’s dog after “Friends” co-star’s death

Fans around the world are mourning Matthew Perry, who died this weekend at the age of 54.

Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on the beloved, long-running sitcom Friends, and had a close friendship with his co-stars.

Now, one of his Friends castmates is reportedly interested in adopting Perry’s dog after the actor’s death.

The death of Matthew Perry is heartbreaking in so many ways, including that he left behind his adorable pet dog Alfred.

Perry first showed off his pet doodle mix in January 2021 with an Instagram post that won the hearts of fans: “Who’s cuter? Don’t answer that,” the actor wrote.

We’re sure that Alfred will miss his owner after his passing. Dogs are very emotionally intelligent animals and seem to understand when their owners have died — sometimes they even mourn by their graveside.

It’s not clear who is taking care of Alfred after Perry’s death, but one Friends co-star is interested in stepping up to take the dog in.

Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe on the sitcom, is interested in adopting Alfred after Perry’s funeral, a source close to the actress told The Daily Mail.

“Lisa and cast will all be attending his services. Lisa is also considering taking in his beloved dog Alfred,” the source said.

Kudrow was also said to be “baffled” by Perry’s death. The actor battled alcohol and opiate addiction throughout most his career, but had been sober in recent years.

Perry was found dead in his hot tub. No illegal drugs were found on the scene, although police did find prescription antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications. While no cause of death has officially been announced, his co-stars reportedly believe they may have been a factor.

“Although no one wants to believe it was medication – prescribed or not – of course that is a thought in their minds,” the source told Daily Mail. “They are thinking he must have taken something that did not mix with the warm water.”

The Friends cast members enjoyed an extremely close friendship on and off screen, and Perry’s co-stars lent support throughout his substance abuse battles.

“It’s a hideous disease, and he has a tough version of it,” Kudrow told the New York Times last year. “What’s not changing is his will to keep going, keep fighting and keep living.”

“I love Matthew a lot. We’re part of a family. I’m basically ending this with ‘I’ll be there for you,’ but it’s true. I’ll always be there for him.”

It’s not officially clear if Kudrow will adopt Alfred, but it would be a touching final gesture to her Friends co-star to make sure his dog is okay ❤️

Rest in peace, Matthew Perry. Please share this story in the actor’s memory.
