Many people know Cote de Pablo as Ziva David, the former secret agent from the hit show NCIS. While Ziva is well-liked, little is known about the Chilean actress behind the character. Take a look at the story behind the actress who overcame hurdles to get to where she is.
Starting From The Bottom
Upon finishing her education in theater, Cote de Pablo struggled to gain gigs on Broadway. Instead, she took up waitressing at an Indian restaurant in Manhattan.
Starting Anew
Cote moved to the United States from Santiago, Chile, with her parents when she was only 10 years old. Many people struggle when moving countries and Cote was a victim of this for many years. However, the change began when she started to attend a performing arts high school. She finally found her place. Describing her experience, she said, “….my friend had the perfect saying for it: ‘You found your tribe.’ We’re not Chilean or Argentinean or Brazilian or Russian. We’re actors.”
Starting Her Career
Cote kick-started her acting career in her teenage years, thanks to her hard work and determination to get there. She had been attending a performing arts high school and received an education in theater at Carnegie Mellon University. Therefore, at only 15 years old, she landed a role on television, hosting a Latin-American talk show called Control. This was the beginning and making of Cote de Pablo’s popular career. Despite her passion, Cote’s initial dream was actually to be a secretary!
The Real Cote De Pablo
When Cote started life in Miami she soon realized that many people couldn’t pronounce her name, María José. To make it easier she changed her name to Cote which was her Chilean nickname. She explained, “..I told them to call me Coty. Then I found out there was a beauty line called Coty, and I hated that! So I changed it to Cote [KOH-teh]. A lot of people don’t get it, but in Chile, if your name is María José, they call you Cote.”
Finding Her Path
Moving countries at 10 years old with almost no English was more than a challenge. Luckily, Cote had a great teacher who saw the potential in the young Chilean girl. As one of the only English words she knew was “run,” the teacher guided her towards enrolling on the track team. She later revealed that she became “a little track and field star.” She would remember her coach screaming, “Cote, run!” and that was all she knew, so she did just that!
The Life-Changing Role
Cote was leading a path towards musical theater and anyone that knew her thought she would end up in this industry. However, she was struck with a big decision when she was offered a part on The Mambo Kings Broadway show at the same time as the television show NCIS. Luckily, the theater show was canceled and fate made her decision for her. Cote took on the role of Ziva David, a former Mossad officer turned NCIS agent, which brought her nationwide fame.
Leaving The Show
NCIS fans were in shock when Cote left the show. At the time, it was revealed that she was leaving for “undisclosed reasons.” However, it later became known that she felt the scripts weren’t good enough and the character wasn’t getting treated with respect. This did not come easy, especially to the character’s devoted fans who had followed her for eight years. They decided to stand up for Ziva and created an online petition. CBS eventually offered Cote a large amount of money to reprise the role of Ziva, but she refused.
First Love
Cote met the man of her dreams in 2000 and the pair became inseparable until their split in 2015. Cote fell head over heels for the Time of Your Life star Diego Serrano from the moment she met him. She revealed that if it was not for him, she would be the most boring girl in Los Angeles. Apparently, he always encouraged her to live, “he’s the worst influence that I have ever had in my life, and I love him for it.”
Heartbreak And Health
Despite having a long-lasting relationship, Cote de Pablo and Diego Serrano called it quits in 2015. Neither Cote or Diego have opened up about the reasons behind their breakup. As her fans know well, Cote does not always speak up about her life and has prided herself on being a private person. Since the couple’s split, she has not publically dated anyone. Around the same time, Cote gained 15 pounds over eight weeks, making her incredibly self-conscious. This turned out to be a result of coming off birth control pills.
Instant Chemistry
Cote’s NCIS character had a special relationship with Michael Weatherly’s character. In fact, insiders from the set of NCIS revealed that Michael Weatherly flirted with her during her initial audition for the part, to see if they had chemistry. Weatherly swiftly moved away from the script and flirted with Cote to see her reaction. While she was a little taken aback, she returned the passion, earning her the role. Perhaps boyfriend Diego was jealous of the pair’s on-screen relationship.
Spiritual Awakening
Cote was raised in a Catholic home in Chile. When she turned at 21 years old, she had a spiritual awakening after hearing the news that her grandmother had cancer. Cote spoke to God and said, “If you exist, you will take my grandmother within twenty minutes. If you don’t, I’ll never believe in you again.” Within ten minutes her Grandmother passed on, and Cote strengthened her relationship with God. When questioned about her beliefs, Cote says proof of God is everywhere.
Real Life Agent
In actual fact, before NCIS, Cote was afraid of even holding a weapon. Yet she was not shy of performing her own stunts. The actress would enjoy coming home after a day of stunts as it left her feeling fulfilled. However, taking on this big challenge didn’t come without its downside. Taking on her own stunts resulted in many injuries on set. During one of the rehearsals, Cote ended up badly injuring her neck. Luckily, she recovered.
Unknowingly Famous
Unlike many actresses, Cote treasures her privacy so much that she holds back from displaying her life on social media. For the past few years she has been out of the public eye, but that does not mean her fans have forgotten her. To make matters even better for her, she is unknown in her home country, Chile. Despite the break, she is going to be making a comeback, teaming up with Michael Weatherly to be an executive producer of a new CBS drama MIA.
Following Her Own Path
After leaving NCIS, Cote told herself to only take on roles which allow her a certain amount of creative freedom. In the five years since the show, she has appeared in The 33 and The Dovekeepers. She never likes to be swayed from following her heart and wants to do things her way. She has described herself as an “old soul” or “hippie” and mentioned in an interview she would make a great old character in a movie.
The 33 Was Close To Home
Cote chose to take on the role in The 33 as it was close to her heart. Following the events of Chile’s 2010 mining crisis, the movie focuses on 33 miners who survived buried underground for 69 days. During an interview, she stated, “I’m Chilean, so it really hit close to home…I saw the first, the second and the third [miners] come out and I remember I was just a mess! It was an incredible thing, and the world was glued.”
Family Life
Cote’s family is spread out all over the world, which takes its toll on the actress who currently lives in Los Angeles. Her mom remained in Chile, and after her parents divorced, her dad moved to Miami with her brother. Meanwhile, Cote’s sister lives in New York City. Cote is not the only member of the family to be in the arts. Her younger brother Francisco is a Miami-based DJ and plays at some of the city’s hottest parties.
A Hefty Net Worth
Cote de Pablo’s wise choices in her career and life have led her to become one of the most well-respected and successful actresses out there. Her dedicated fans and global acceptance has earnt her a net worth of $4 million. From the girl who spoke no English to a hard-working theater student to a television star, her persistence paid off. Meanwhile, Cote is still young and at the beginning of her career, so we can only imagine her net worth will continue to grow.
A Hopeless Romantic
Although she is single, or so we believe, Cote de Pablo is known to be a romantic. In the past, she was quoted saying, “I still get very excited when people say they fall in love. It doesn’t matter how old you are, falling in love is a beautiful thing. And I still act like I did when I was a teenager. I get fluttery and tap dance around. I’m never afraid of making funny faces or being completely goofy.”
Her Number One Rule
For Cote, staying healthy is important and this can be hard when living the lifestyle of an actress. In order to do this, Cote has one number one health rule that she will never break; getting eight hours of sleep every night. Yep, she will never have less than eight hours of blissful sleep. She claims that she will not be able to remember her lines if she doesn’t sleep after spending hours memorizing a dialogue.
Strongly Opposed
Living during a time where physical beauty is given so much focus, celebrities are under a lot of pressure to maintain an image. But Cote feels otherwise. The actress is adamantly against plastic surgery. She feels very strongly that people shouldn’t do it, women especially. She said it’s “important for women to learn to say no” in regards to it in order to change people’s perceptions. She also feels television should work to show more diverse women than the usual 25 to 40-year-olds.
Award-Winning Actress
This actress has not gone unnoticed for her talents. Cote de Pablo has been recognized for her brilliant work. In 2006, she was nominated for an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress in Television for her appearance on NCIS. She was also nominated for ALMA Awards and in 2011, she won the ALMA Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Television Series. Most recently, she won an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress in a feature film for her role in The 33. But what’s next for Cote?
Making A Comeback
Insiders of NCIS reveal that Cote’s character Ziva David may not be completely gone from our television screens. When Ziva’s death happened her body was never shown to the audience, creating much speculation. Cote has spoken up about it too by hinting that there may be a chance Ziva is still alive. She also revealed her fellow agent Tony DiNozzo may experience a romantic reunion. If Ziva was to return, surely this romance would have to be with her! Ah, the suspense!
From Then To Now
This Chilean-American actress who moved to the United States at 10 years old became of the most well-liked actresses in the world. She has had quite the journey in her career from hosting Control to becoming an award-winning respected actress. Fans of NCIS will never forget Ziva David and will continue to hope for her return. Meanwhile, looking into 2019, although her career has slowed, hold on tight because this is not the end of Cote de Pablo.
Deleted Tweets Celebrities Desperately Wish We Never Saw
Kanye West
When it comes to unusual and uncanny tweets, Kanye is truly the King. He’s an amazing artist, without a doubt, and an incredibly talented individual. It’s just that his tweets are sometimes a little bit… how do we put this… out there. Kanye clearly realized he’d gone a little too far with this one, or else why would he delete it? It probably occurred to him that, as much as we might aspire to live the celebrity lifestyle he enjoys, complaining about Persian rugs is probably something most of us don’t find very relatable.
Michael Caine
We might know him best as Batman’s butler Alfred from the Chris Nolan film series, but Michael Caine has a great list of credits to his name. He’s one of the best in the business when it comes to performing, on stage or on screen — he’s just not as great at tweeting, it seems. This quickly became a classic in the “deleted celeb tweets” genre. It’s a strange one, that’s for sure. It implies that these stories pop up quite regularly and he’s always having to swat them down. Maybe we’re better off not knowing.
Jonah Hill
We all know and love Jonah Hill. He’s given us such classics as Superbad and 21 Jump Street, and he just seems like an all-round chill guy. Even the chillest amongst us has bad days, though, and Jonah is no exception. A bit of context, CNN Anchor Don Lemon tweeted that he had said hi to Jonah Hill in a hotel lobby and that Hill had snubbed him — treating him as if he was “the help.” Jonah shot back with the tweet above, which he later deleted. We hope he learned a valuable lesson about taking a deep breath before you tweet.
Lindsay Lohan
Social media can be a hard thing to manage. Building a following, engaging your audience, staying relevant — it’s all a lot to handle. There’s a reason that big companies hire people, or even entire firms, to handle their accounts. It helps if you know what platform you’re posting to. We think that’s probably day one if you’re learning how to manage a Social Media empire. Lindsay seems to have learned her lesson because she deleted the tweet — but that’s a tough mistake to make.
Taylor Swift
Something we love hearing about is the secrets celebs like to share with us. The tips and tricks of the trade, which they pass on to us to make our lives better. There’s a reason that celebrity beauty advice is such a big thing. It helps if you know what platform you’re posting to. We think that’s probably day one if you’re learning how to manage a Social Media empire. Lindsay seems to have learned her lesson because she deleted the tweet — but that’s a tough mistake to make.
Cher
Building a career is a tough thing to do, whether you’re a celebrity or not. Performers have a lot to work on, though — they don’t just have to be talented and refine their craft with practice, they also have to stay fresh and relevant and keep the public’s attention. So, Cher is probably not the only celebrity who has asked herself this question over the years. She might be one of the only ones who has asked it publicly on Twitter, though. We’re sure an icon like Cher will figure it out, though. How could she not?
Ryan Lochte
To err is human, and to make a typo on Twitter is much the same thing. Ryan Lochte is a champion athlete, but that doesn’t make him immune to simple, silly mistakes — like forgetting how to spell “scissors.” We’re not really sure where he was going with this one, anyway. That will remain a secret for the ages, though, since the tweet has been deleted. Some things are bigger mysteries than we’ll ever know.
Aaron Carter
Audiences can be fickle. Sometimes, a celeb will rise to fame and just as quickly fall out of favor. But although tastes may change, there’s no disputing the facts — sometimes, there are rock-solid truths we can all hold onto in a changing world. Aaron Carter doesn’t want to offend anybody, but he’s got a truth that he’s clinging to: he is Aaron Carter. It was true before he tweeted it, and it’s still true after he deleted it. Some things just never change.
Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant is a force of nature out on the court, but it seems his knowledge of science might be somewhat lacking. He shared some of his thoughts on the subject on Twitter, and just as soon again he deleted them. To be fair, though, it’s a great question — how exactly do scientists figure all this stuff out? If he could’ve heard the documentary over the sounds of the club, we think he probably wouldn’t have gotten the explanation he was looking for.
Kim Kardashian West
Kim Kardashian is an icon — when you think of what a celebrity is, chances are you think of Kim. She’s usually not as bad as her husband Kanye when it comes to the weird tweets, but she’s posted some strange enough stuff in her time. Kim’s ponderings on forensic science and crime scene investigation really give us pause. You know, now that we think of it, it’s not such a silly question. What else might twins be able to accomplish if they put their minds to it?
Larry King
When we’re young, the world is amazing, full of miracles that we can’t wait to discover. Then time goes on, we grow, and we start to understand the world a little better. That’s when everything becomes boring and familiar. Not for Larry King. There’s something endearing about his childlike sense of wonder at something as simple as the clocks turning back. He deleted the tweet, but we kind of wish he hadn’t. Sure, it’s dorky, but Larry — embrace your inner dork! We love to see it.
Fergie
From the Black Eyed Peas to her own solo ventures, Fergie has built up quite a following and her fans love her for not only the music she creates, but for who she is — and she’s going to thank her lucky stars that she is who she is. TGIF can mean many things to many people, and to Fergie it means: Thank God I’m Fergie. We can all wish for this kind of self-confidence, even though she deleted the tweet. The message still rings true.
Drake Bell
Though this tweet has been deleted, there’s a sad story that goes along with it — and that story will never fade. Who remembers the beautiful bond between those two brothers on Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh? Sadly, that relationship doesn’t seem to have lasted beyond the show. Drake tweeted out to tell the world that he wasn’t invited to Josh’s wedding. Though the tweets are gone now, we’ll remember the pain that Drake shared with us. It seems like he took it pretty hard.
Aaron Carter… Again
Twitter is a great place to engage with your audience, to really get to know your fans and connect with them on their level. Some celebs manage this better than others by posting relatable content that people can identify with… and some celebs tweet about yelling at their limo driver. We’re glad Aaron delete this one because that’s kind of a rude thing to do. Come on, man — don’t yell at your driver.
Lindsay Lohan
Who doesn’t love a good April Fool’s gag? There’s a right and a wrong way to go about these things, though — you don’t want to joke about anything too serious, in case people get their hopes up. Lindsay got people’s hopes up when she tweeted out that she was pregnant. When did this happen? Who was the father? What was the story? Twitter wanted to know all the details. Then, the tweet was deleted. April fools!
Justin Bieber
Sometimes, we aspire to be like our idols, and other times a celeb will become our idol because they just seem so down to earth and relatable. We feel like we really get them, and that they understand us in turn. Lindsay got people’s hopes up when she tweeted out that she was pregnant. When did this happen? Who was the father? What was the story? Twitter wanted to know all the details. Then, the tweet was deleted. April fools!
Jordyn Woods
For those who haven’t been Keeping Up With the Kardashians, here’s a quick rundown: back in the day, Jordyn Woods and Kylie Jenner were absolute BFFs. Except, it turns out F doesn’t always stand for “forever” because after Jordyn kissed Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend, Tristan, the friendship quickly soured. Jordyn made this pun on her name in reference to these sad events, yet in the end, she decided to take it down. Did she regret her words, or was she just not as pleased with how the pun went down?
Martha Stewart
Martha Stewart has had an astonishing career — a former model, a caterer, and a celebrity chef, with numerous books to her name and a business empire. Despite ups and downs, she remains popular with thousands around the world. This tweet was perhaps not one of Martha’s proudest achievements. The strange tweet was deleted, and we think we know why. What’s the Twitter equivalent of a pocket dial?
Jaden Smith
Including Jaden Smith on the list is almost cheating. Will Smith’s son is known throughout Twitter for his unusual tweets, and he often entertains his followers with some strange and surprising insights. Maybe he decided he didn’t want to be responsible for people dropping out of school, but we think we kind of get where Jaden was coming from with this one. School teaches conformity, but creative types like Jaden would rather be spontaneous and free — and maybe the world would be better off that way. We get it.
Solange Knowles
Solange Knowles — or just Solange, as we all know her — isn’t just Beyonce’s sister. She’s a talented performer in her own right, with a great many hits to her name, and a fanbase all her own. So when she speaks, her followers listen. We can see why this tweet might’ve been deleted. It’s hard to understand exactly what’s going on here, so it’s possible it’s more relatable than it might seem. Who hasn’t had an itchy thumb before, right? Okay, we’re just trying to be nice. We’re not sure we really get it.
Kanye West, Take Two
It’s time for another of Kanye’s fabled tweets, this time about a more relatable topic than Persian rugs: the perils of flying. Most of us know what it’s like to take a trip on the plane, whether international or domestic, and we’ve all had our bad experiences. Okay, maybe that’s not so relatable after all. Kanye’s dread at waking up next to a water bottle seems a bit odd, and we have to admit we’ve never quite had the same experience. Maybe you just had to be there.
Mary J. Blige
It’s important to stay humble. No matter how smart you might think you are, you’re still only human — and if you try too hard to be above it all, people are going to take great pleasure in pointing it out when you slip up. Mary J. Blige caught this mistake and deleted the tweet, but not before Twitter caught on and had some fun at her expense. It can be frustrating when people underestimate your intelligence, it’s true — but be careful when you try to communicate that on Twitter.
Lil Jon
Deleted tweets range from the weird to the wonderful to the woeful category of TMI — too much information. Lil Jon’s deleted tweet belongs firmly in the third category, and it isn’t hard to see why. Well, you know, it happens to the best of us — but perhaps the whole world doesn’t need to know about it. Lil Jon certainly decided that was the case when he deleted this tweet… but it was too late. What goes online stays online, for better or worse.
Bebe Rexha
We’ve all wondered what’d be like to have a time machine, and where we would go if we could go anywhere — or anywhen. The glitz and glamour of Paris are always alluring, and traveling back to the recent past would be a treat, when vintage fashions were all still new. Oops. Bebe found out pretty quickly the mistake she’d made when almost everyone on Twitter pointed her to the history books. In 1940, Paris was under German occupation in World War II. That’s probably not the best time to be visiting.
Martha Stewart… Again
Martha Stewart is back — we just couldn’t resist. She’s known for her recipes, but perhaps she’s not quite so known for this one. It’s probably not quite as good as some of her others. Right. That seems a bit basic, but who are we to question Martha? She knows what she’s doing when it comes to the tantalizing world of food — just not so much when it comes to the realm of social media, we suppose. Oh, well, she must’ve realized her mistake because the tweet was deleted… though not before the world caught it.
Rita Ora
There’s nothing like social media for engaging with your fanbase and generating hype for your projects. That’s what Rita Ora wanted to do on Twitter, but sometimes these things just don’t quite work out. Unfortunately, Rita’s tweet didn’t get the 100 000 retweets she was looking for. It’s hard to say just how many retweets it got in the end because she deleted it after she didn’t get the response she wanted.
Kevin Hart
Kevin Hart is a comic and an actor who is known throughout the world for his sharp wit and his hilarious comedy acts. So perhaps he should know better than making light of something as dangerous as drinking and driving. There’s a good ending to this story, though, after Kevin deleted the tweet. He was arrested after failing to pass sobriety tests, of course, and he’s since said it was “a wake-up call.” We’re glad to hear it — drinking and driving is a dangerous thing.
Jason Biggs
Comedy is a balancing act between the familiar and the unfamiliar, between connecting with your audience while still being able to surprise them, shock them, and make them laugh. When it comes to Twitter jokes, the danger is all too real, so the rule has always been a simple one: don’t punch down. There’s a good ending to this story, though, after Kevin deleted the tweet. He was arrested after failing to pass sobriety tests, of course, and he’s since said it was “a wake-up call.” We’re glad to hear it — drinking and driving is a dangerous thing.
Lindsay Lohan
Okay, so we can’t all keep up with absolutely everyone who exists in the world — not even the most dedicated fan knows every single celebrity out there. Still, there are some celebs that have instant name recognition, surely — and if anyone makes that list, it’s the Oscar award-winning Emma Stone. Not if your name is Lindsay Lohan, it seems. Lindsay tweeted out this question many years ago, and it’s been deleted — but since then, Emma Stone’s star has been on the rise, and her name is better-known now than ever.
Alexa Chung
We’ve all had weird dreams, and it seems even top tier fashion designers like Alexa Chung aren’t exempt. What do fashion designers dream about, you may wonder? Why, the answer is simple: other fashion designers. You might not’ve expected a dream about the eccentric Karl Lagerfeld to be sexy, and it seems Alexa didn’t either. She said she doesn’t want to talk about it, and it looks like she’s telling the truth because the tweet has since been deleted. It’s probably better off just leaving this one be.
Rihanna
From the risque to the just plain rude, some deleted tweets are better off staying deleted — especially when they’re only going to cause drama. Still, if the damage is already done, can there be any harm in having a peek? When Rihanna tweeted this one at Beyonce, Twitter exploded in a shower of drama that has still yet to fully settle, even five years later. There are probably better ways to share that information — though perhaps not if you’re going for maximum impact.
Kim Kardashian
Kim is back on the list, this time with something a little less thoughtful than her previous musings on the genetic profile of twin siblings. This time, her thoughts have turned to the mysteries of the English language. We’re not experts on linguistics, so we’re not quite sure if she’s onto something here. She mustn’t have been so sure herself since she ended up deleting this one. We wonder what the answer might’ve been to this whimsical “What if?”
Kim Kardashian, Once More With Feeling
Okay, this one is definitely cheating — but we needed to hear from Kim K one last time. Here’s a tweet that hasn’t been deleted, but we’re wondering if maybe it should. We love you, Kim, but what exactly is going on here? Not everyone can know everything, we suppose, and Kim is pretty busy just being her stunning self. We suppose it’s not so bad, all things considered.
Ashanti
Straight from the TMI files, Ashanti brings us a piercing question that cuts right to the heart of the intimacy between couples. Whether you’re living together or not, there’s a burning question that she’s dying to know the answer to. Okay, not anymore she’s not, because she seemed to have had second thoughts. This tweet is now deleted, and it’s probably for the best… we wouldn’t want anyone to start answering it, now would we?
Hailey Baldwin
Before she was Hailey Bieber, she was just a fan like everyone else. Back in the day, when Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were dating, there were a lot of people hoping that they’d go the distance — including Justin’s future wife. It’s not hard to see why this tweet got deleted. It’s not exactly a memory you’d want to hold onto, the time you shipped your husband and his ex. We can only imagine how weird it must be to have to go back through your Twitter to do this.
Ariana Grande
There were few people who missed the short-lived whirlwind romance of Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande. Things got messy from time to time after their break-up.
This included one joke that Davidson made on Saturday Night Live, referencing his recent breakup. The comedian jokingly proposed to the musical guest that week before joking that he was “0 for 3.” After the joke hit the air, Grande tweeted out this response only to delete it shortly afterward.
Lizzo
Lizzo has made waves in her career by truly being herself and speaking her mind. Yet, that doesn’t mean that everyone always agrees. In one now-deleted tweet, the singer was trying to make a point about her music style as compared to Future and Swae Lee.
However, many who saw those tweets thought she was shading those artists. Lizzo deleted the tweet and later clarified she wasn’t trying to be disrespectful and was just comparing them musically.
Miley Cyrus
When you grow up in the spotlight, no one can blame you for deleting a tweet from time to time. After all, you change a lot as you grow up.
For a flashback to Miley’s early career, this tweet offers an interesting blast from the past. Not only is this an interesting admission of staring at Google images of someone who became a colleague but it’s quite the glowing endorsement.
Charlie Sheen
When it comes to private life, celebrities don’t have much of one. So, many guard their personal lives carefully to keep what privacy they have. Not to mention, doing something like tweeting out your private phone number can really lead to your phone blowing up.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what Charlie Sheen did when he was trying to reach out to fellow star Justin Bieber in a private direct message. Next time, it’s probably better to double-check before hitting send.
Kris Jenner
There are some things that celebrities share that we sometimes just wish they wouldn’t. These tidbits just aren’t what we want to associate with the stars. Still, many celebrities share their every experience with their fan base.
Kris Jenner must have thought better of it when this tweet was deleted, we just wish she’d done it a little sooner. We wonder why she thought everyone should know this — it’s pretty at odds with the glamorous front that the family often keeps up. Perhaps one of her daughters hacked her account?
Taylor Swift Is Back
We’ve already seen some of Taylor Swift’s tweets that she’s removed from her feed. Yet, she’s back on the list with another. In this relatable scenario, the pop star found herself in a situation that many people have found themselves in — with a dead car battery.
We have to agree, though. The employee that helped out here really would seem like an actual angel. At least this is a pretty relatable deleted tweet.
Johnny Manziel
If you’re a football fan who keeps up with news off the field, you’re probably not surprised to see Johnny Manziel here. He’s got a few deleted tweets that have gotten him in trouble.
This one is a pretty good example. In this particular tweet, Manziel is talking about Texas A&M, the school he was playing for at the time. Even worse, this tweet came out in the middle of a season before Manziel took it back. It wasn’t a tweet that was easily forgotten, though.
Katy Perry
We really can’t blame Katy Perry for this one. While it was on her account, it was her ex-husband Russell Brand that tweeted the photo out on her behalf.
It looks like he managed to catch his then-wife while she was just trying to relax in bed. We’re not quite sure why he tweeted it to her account but it seems like she wasn’t happy about it. The tweet disappeared not long after it was put up.
Taylor Swift – One Last Time
Once again, we have to turn to Taylor Swift’s Twitter account. Over the years, she’s deleted a number of chuckle-worthy tweets. This one has a fairly good point too.
As it gets closer to Halloween, many people start to see more ads for scary concepts like horror movies. This wouldn’t be too bad if you love those movies but if you hate them, this is likely quite the hassle or even just too frightening!
Demi Lovato
It’s always dicey to derive comedy from someone else’s misfortune. That’s a fact that Demi Lovato’s fanbase was ready to teach them the hard way. Lovato tweeted this out about loving the memes about 21 Savage during the Super Bowl.
Their posts quickly garnered attention in which people pointed out that it was pretty out of line when 21 Savage was facing the threat of deportation at the time. As such, many saw the tweet as more than a tad insensitive.
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey has done a lot in her life. One of those achievements is opening her very own network called OWN. Still, it didn’t go off without a hitch.
In the early days of OWN, Oprah tweeted out this plea, which basically includes her directly asking people to increase her ratings. She later removed the tweet at the request of none other than Neilsen who said she’d violated their policies. She later said that she “intended no harm.”
Justin Timberlake
After he performed a tribute to Prince at the Super Bowl, Justin Timberlake came under fire. Unfortunately, he wasn’t quite open to criticism.
When this person reached out to him on Twitter, he did everything but listen to them with an open mind and try to understand the issue. Instead, he doubled down with a dismissive and patronizing response that he later deleted after he received plenty of backlash for the response.
Kesha
You might think that with so many people reading what they say, celebrities might carefully consider what they put out there. Obviously, this isn’t the case.
As for this tweet from Kesha that she later deleted, we’re not quite sure what’s going on here. We can only assume that this tweet was another TMI moment in which Kesha shared a quick bathroom emergency with the world. We can see why she deleted it later on.
Cardale Jones
There are some tweets that you send out and no one forgets, even after you delete them. This means that there are some tweets that the world won’t let you forget.
We’re sure that Cardale Jones wasn’t planning on hearing about this tweet for years to come. However, claiming that the important part of school was football, not the classes, was sure to raise some eyebrows. Eventually, he just deleted the tweet, even if the internet didn’t forget.
Ashton Kutcher
A good rule of thumb before weighing in on an issue is to make sure you know what’s going on first. Ashton Kutcher might have wanted to catch up on the news.
Back when Joe Paterno was fired as a coach at Penn State, Kutcher let loose this tweet. What he apparently didn’t know what that the coach was fired amidst the unsavory scandal involving Jerry Sandusky. The tweet was taken down quickly after the actor was informed by an influx of responses.
Chrissy Teigen
Like Charlie Sheen learned the hard way, you don’t want to tweet out your personal information online. Otherwise, you might just compromise your privacy. While Chrissy Teigen has since deleted the original tweet, it’s easy to see from this one what happened.
The star did what many have and sent a private message out onto a public platform, giving her email to everyone. She even took a few FaceTimes from fans with her mom, Vilailuck Teigen.
Troy Aikman
Oh, once again, a famous face slips up by not double-checking where they’re sending their message. We’re not sure that Troy Aikman intended this as a public tweet.
Actually, it’s pretty obvious that this is the case since the tweet starts with “DM.” On top of that, this was obviously addressed to a single person. We wonder if the person who this was intended for felt about the slip-up and if this mistake ruined Aikman’s chances.
A Threat From Miley Cyrus
One interesting thing about Miley Cyrus is that she comes from a famous family. As a result, the world has gotten a close look at the family dynamics.
This has included the bad and the ugly — as well as the good. In one particular deleted tweet, Miley even once threatened her father with a vague ultimatum on Twitter. The post was later deleted but not before everyone caught wind of the blackmail attempt.
Kendall Jenner
If there was one controversy that Kendall Jenner couldn’t get away from for a while, it was her ill-fated Pepsi commercial. After that, you’d think she’d try hard to avoid Pepsi for a minute.
However, the young star actually decided to tweet out a picture of Cindy Crawford decked out in Pepsi merch with a drink positioned clearly in the background. It didn’t take long for the outcry to come back and she deleted the post.
Amanda Bynes
No matter what, never forget the “golden rule.” In other words, don’t take the time out of your day just to be mean to someone.
That’s something that Amanda Bynes slipped up on in 2013. She tweeted this picture of Jay-Z out of nowhere, only captioning it to insult his looks. It seems like it was a very left-field attack that we’re glad to see deleted from her page now. What’s the point?
Kanye, Now With Ninjas
There are times that it can seem like celebrities are leagues different from the average person. Once in a while, though, they’re pretty relatable.
We can’t discount Kanye West for his admiration of ninjas. They’re notoriously impressive and are even often featured in film and games. Unfortunately, much like Kanye, most of us don’t know any ninjas personally who can show off a few moves here and there.
50 Cent
There’s a time and a place for family matters. As a celebrity, you might not want to air your family’s dirty laundry online unless you’re sure. 50 Cent seemed more than happy to give fans this confusing update before he eventually deleted it.
This 2010 update honestly raises more questions than answers. We hope that 50 Cent and his grandma managed to come to a peaceful end to their disagreement on the matter.
Kanye as a Modern Narcissus
There’s nothing quite like spending time with someone you love. Some people even believe in love at first sight or are content to spend time just looking into their partner’s eyes. Kanye really thought he’d found the one for a second.
Unfortunately, in a characteristic fashion, this tweet took a weird turn to reveal exactly who Kanye had been enamored with the whole time. It’s like a retelling of the Greek myth of Narcissus just in much fewer characters.
James Charles
There are certain things that you simply shouldn’t joke about. James Charles, no stranger to controversy, courted it once with this now-deleted tweet. There’s a lot wrong with this particular tweet.
For one, it’s a wildly insensitive thing to say about visiting Africa. On the other hand, the influencer also manages to use the joke to make light of a serious disease. All in all, this deleted tweet should never have made it to Charles’ page in the first place.
Taylor Swift Is Just Checking
When you need glasses, you might have varying problems with your vision. You might even wonder sometimes what would happen if you suddenly didn’t need glasses.
Well, even if you didn’t, Taylor Swift saw the value in checking things out. In a since-deleted tweet, the star admitted to using a shampoo bottle to test her vision. It seems like just another night in the exciting life of a big star.
Miley Cyrus – The Encore
The interesting thing about deleting a tweet is that it never really seems to go away. There are always signs of the tweet somewhere, especially if you’re under the scrutiny of a celeb.
This person made sure that there was a record of this once-tweeted comment from Miley Cyrus. To be fair, enough people get their feelings hurt on Twitter to make this a relatable tweet although we aren’t sure if the term “tweelings” is quite going to catch on anytime soon.
Jessica Simpson
Sometimes, when celebrities draw attention to something, it can really change things. Other times, they’re just as out of luck as the rest of us. Listen, we’ve all seen a mishap at the gym and it’s unfortunate.
We aren’t sure that this since-deleted tweet from Jessica Simpson single-handedly changed the dress code for everyone. If nothing else, she’s painted a striking visual picture here whether the world was interested in hearing it or not.
Chrissy Teigen One More Time
For a while, it was hard to miss Danielle Bregoli. If you don’t recognize the name, you’d definitely recognize her as the “cash me outside girl.”
In March of 2017, Chrissy Teigen tried to clap back at a post that seemed like a cocky post from Bregoli. However, Teigen could have benefitted from double-checking what she was looking at before posting. The now-deleted post was actually in response to a fake account.
Lindsay Lohan – An Ambitious Effort
It’s always exciting when your favorite stars work together. After all, what’s better than one of your favorite performers than a few of them together?
One day, Lindsay Lohan came up with a fairly ambitious concept for a crossover and wasn’t going to waste time on it. She decided to tweet not just One Direction but Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj directly, asking their thoughts. Sadly, we never saw the results of this before the offer was deleted.
Hulk Hogan
There are plenty of famous people who use their social media as a place to compliment their partners. While a little odd, that’s why this might not stick out at first.
That is, unless you know exactly who Brooke is to Hogan. The wrestler isn’t sharing a picture of his partner looking sharp at an event here but rather his daughter. It’s more than a little uncomfortable to see a father complimenting his daughter’s legs.
Martha Stewart With a New Look
We’ve already paid some attention to Martha Stewart in this list. When it comes to cooking and decorating, who else can you turn to? In one deleted tweet, Stewart may have shown fans another side.
In a couple of photos that were deleted off of Stewart’s Twitter but live on through the internet, the television personality showed off a smokey eye look that caught everyone off-guard. It’s a good look to just delete!
Courtney Love
As the lead singer of the band whole and the paramour of the late Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love is no stranger to the spotlight. She’s not afraid to be candid on Twitter either.
