In 1964, at the age of 18, Dolly Parton made the bold decision to move to Nashville, the epicenter of country music. There, she collaborated with Porter Wagoner on The Porter Wagoner Show, and their partnership skyrocketed in popularity. Signing with RCA Records, Parton achieved her first No. 1 country hit in 1971 with “Joshua,” followed by the sensational success of “Jolene.” The song, consisting of just 200 words, became one of the greatest hits of the 20th century and solidified Parton’s status as a global superstar.
