Owen Wilson is such a household name at this point that there’s very little fans don’t know about him.

The Wedding Crashers star has been a staple of Hollywood for well over a decade, and his cheeky, lovable characters have hit home with audiences worldwide. Fame and fortune are obviously part of the celebrity package, but it turns out that there are a heck of a lot of people that didn’t know about Owen’s also-famous brother.

Perhaps you did… or perhaps you’re about to have your mind blown, like a lot of others did when they saw a recent TikTok video doing the rounds…

If you’re a long-time fan of Owen Wilson, you’ll likely be aware that he’s not the only member of his family to grace the big screen. I myself have known it for years – I’m also a fan of his brother – and if you’d have asked me last week if the fact that Owen Wilson had a famous sibling was a mystery, I likely would have frowned in dismay.

Apparently it’s true though: there are a lot of people out there who have never made the connection between Owen Wilson and his younger brother, Luke.

So who is Luke Wilson? Well, even if the name doesn’t ring a bell (thought it should) you’ve almost certainly seen his face before. He’s been in Legally Blonde (2001), Old School (2003), and Idiocracy (2006), among other things.

Though it’s true he hasn’t quite hit the lofty heights of his older brother’s career, Luke has made a name for himself in his own right, and his has become a familiar face within the film industry.

Yet a recent TikTok video appears to have exposed the fact that there are a lot of people out there who never knew that Owen and Luke were related.

TikTok user Jemma McCarthy kicked off the debacle when she shared a clip and expressed her shock at learning that Luke was Owen’s brother.

And she wasn’t alone. What followed was a storm of comments from others who made it known that they weren’t in the loop either.

“But why does this make so much sense?” one user wrote. “I always thought they looked related.”

“They always gave the same vibes I don’t know why I ain’t think to look them up,” another said.

“When they’re not standing next to each other I’d never have a clue but together I could see it,” a third added.

“Thought it was obvious they were related. Same surname and they look like each other,” a fourth user wrote.

Just to throw a further spanner in the works, if you didn’t know then there’s actually a third Wilson brother… and he’s also an actor.

Yes, acting seems to run in the family. Andrew Wilson – the eldest at 59 –has starred in The Wendell Baker Story, Idiocracy, and more recently Time Trap.
