This couple argues that love transcends age and that genuine love knows no boundaries. Whether they are correct or not remains a matter of personal perspective. Iris Jones, an 82-year-old from Somerset, England, and Mohamed Ibriham, a 36-year-old Egyptian from Cairo, chose to enter into a marital union.
They defied the age gap of 46 years, initially connecting on the internet in 2019 but subsequently progressing their relationship beyond the confines of Facebook to real-life meetings.
Iris ventured to Cairo, and it was there that their love blossomed, ultimately leading to their marriage in 2020. Presently, they reside together in England. However, their relationship has faced criticism from relatives and various individuals.
These spouses, determined to uphold the idea that love knows no age, have been compelled to defend their union.
Critics have speculated that Mohamed married the older woman for financial gain and to secure a visa. Mohamed has had to respond to such allegations on multiple occasions.
The couple even appeared as guests on a British talk show called “This Morning,” where they discussed the challenges they have faced due to public scrutiny.
In response to the judgments of others, Mohamed emphasized that he is financially self-sufficient and does not rely on his wife for support. Iris, being a retiree with a modest pension, provides a stark contrast to the speculation.
“Many people criticize us. They disrupt our peace without realizing that I don’t require anything. I am gainfully employed and own a bungalow in Cairo,” asserted Mohamed.
Iris explained that the only real challenge they face is adapting to the presence of a spouse in her home, while her husband is adjusting to life in Europe.
The couple also granted an interview to a newspaper where they reiterated their dedication to one another and defended their union once more.
