Humanity begins at home, or in this case, the drive-thru of a Burger King. In a heartwarming incident from 2017, an employee from one such restaurant in Texas got worldwide attention after she displayed her humane side and helped a diabetic customer in the drive-thru. This story was shared by Rebecca Boening, a customer who was driving along a highway in the Lone Star State, when she noticed the spike in her blood sugar. She decided to enter the drive-thru quickly and then started stumbling through the order.

Burger King Drive-Thru Worker Shows Humanity And Helps Woman In Need

She mentioned, “Wednesday afternoon I was driving west on I-40 when my blood sugar dropped to a dangerous level. Luckily a Burger King restaurant was at the upcoming exit. As I stumbled through placing my order I mentioned to the voice on the speaker that I was diabetic and in need of food. Low blood sugar makes it difficult to think or act. I pulled up to the first window in order to pay for my food. I was shocked to see Burger King employee Tina Hardy running toward the front of my car. She squeezed between the front of my car and the building just to bring me a small serving of ice cream.

Tina later explained that her husband was also diabetic and she could tell that I needed help. After paying I pulled up to Tina’s window where she gave me my food. She instructed me to park across the driveway so that she could keep an eye on me until I felt better. After eating I waited for a break in business so that I could return to Tina’s window. I then took this picture and spoke with Tina’s supervisor, telling him what she did for me. If you appreciate what this special woman did please share this story. Hopefully Tina Hardy will receive the recognition that she truly deserves from the public and from the big bosses at Burger King.

A New Friend For Life

Boening later mentioned that they had become fast friends and had been keeping in regular touch through Facebook. Also, Boening mentioned that their world had exploded. Needless to say, such an incredible display of kindness and humanity has everyone feeling pretty sentimental.

Boening mentioned, “Everyone is so touched by this story because she acted. She didn’t just give me lip service or ignore me. She acted. I’ve been off work for nearly 24 years because of my reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome and apparently the world has changed a lot since I was out in it. People keep telling me, ‘People don’t do things like this anymore.’ And I think that’s a shame. I think we need to be human, and to be human is to care for one another.

Tina Hardy, on her part, said that she had helped Boening because, as a human, she didn’t want anything bad to happen to the customer. She also stated, “If you feel it in your heart and you have the ability to help someone, please help them. Boening is somebody’s mom, somebody’s grandma, and we would love to keep people around as long as we possibly can.

The drive-thru worker at Burger King also said that since her post had gone viral, she had met with her boss who appreciated what she had done for the woman. The district manager also thanked her personally. She stated that she had heard the corporate office of the fast food franchise call to send their best- whilst telling her that they wanted her to keep working at the drive-thru. But what was more important to both Hardy and Boening was their burgeoning friendship. When asked if they still planned on remaining friends, they answered, “Oh, definitely.
