Father Of Slain Teen Criticizes School For Allowing Alleged Killer To Graduate

To prevent the school from’rewarding’ a suspected murderer, the father of a 17-year-old teen who was stabbed at a track meet has made a fervent appeal.

On April 2, Austin Metcalf was stabbed in the heart while attending the track and field final at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco with his younger brother, Hunter.

18-year-old Karmelo Anthony is charged with drawing a knife following a brawl over stands. According to legend, Metcalf passed away in his brother’s embrace.

Speaking to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, police stated that officers were called to the scene at approximately 10am, stating: “Despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and the administration of blood, the (17)-year-old victim died.”

According to NBC News, Anthony was detained and charged by Frisco police, but was later released from custody and placed under home arrest.

In light of the continuing allegations, Austin’s father, Jeffrey Metcalf, has now filed a formal complaint against Centennial High School for granting Anthony his diploma.

Anthony’s spokesman, Dominique Alexander, told the Daily Mail that a complaint had been filed.

“Now you have a father filing a complaint to the TEA [Texas Education Agency],” he said.

Although Anthony appears to be getting his certificate, the Daily Mail states that because he is still under house arrest, the suspected murderer is not anticipated to participate in the graduation ceremony or go across the stage at Frisco Independent School District to pick up his award.

“We are in arrangements of doing an early gradation. They have agreed to allow him to graduate. They were literally trying to expel him – period,” Alexander said last week.

Metcalf acknowledged attending a news conference hosted by the Anthony family last month, whereby they indicated their intention to contest their son’s first-degree murder conviction.

Speaking about “lies and false accusations that have been said about us, especially over the past week,” Anthony’s mother, Kala Hayes, stated that they “put my family in danger.”

According to the suspect killer’s parents, he defended himself when Austin allegedly attacked him.

Metcalf said that he was “disrespected” when he arrived at the press conference and was led out by police.

“They should have pulled me up [to the front] and said, ‘We are so sorry. Our condolences.’ The only thing I would have said was, ‘Okay, can we pray together and show the world we’re united’,” he told the New York Post.
