President Donald Trump Addresses Deadly FSU Shooting – His Message Ignites a Public Stir

After a tragic shooting at Florida State University on April 17, 2025, that left two dead and six injured, President Donald Trump issued a brief statement,

calling the event “horrible” and “a shame.” The suspect, 20-year-old student Phoenix Ikner, used a handgun legally owned by his mother. He was shot by police and taken into custody.

Ikner, the son of a local sheriff’s deputy, was involved in law enforcement youth programs, making his access to weapons unsurprising,

officials said. The attack caused a full campus lockdown, with students barricading classrooms and hiding in fear. FSU President McCullough called the event a “senseless act of violence.” Read more below
