At least 15 people tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident on Thursday in Manitoba, Canada. A bus carrying elderly passengers collided with a truck at an intersection near Carberry, roughly 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.
The bus was transporting the passengers to a casino in Carberry. Rob Hill, Deputy Police Officer and commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, confirmed, “At least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.”
Ten others are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Both drivers survived the crash, but authorities have yet to determine who was at fault. Photos from the scene show wheelchair seats and walking frames scattered near tarpaulins that covered the victims’ bodies.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences, saying his thoughts are with the injured and the families of those who lost loved ones. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also expressed her heartfelt sympathy.
