The most devastating thing a parent could ever face is to lose their child. When it happens to more than one child at the same time, however, it is beyond what any of us could imagine.
Unfortunately, a father named Brian Trumbl experienced this on August 1, 2024. His two daughters had gone to an amusement park together in Rochester, New York, but they would never return home again.
Brian said that when his daughters didn’t check in or return home, he sent a number of text messages to their phones. After they didn’t respond to those text messages, he used the app, Find My Friends to locate the phones and his daughters.
He quickly drove to the location but he found that the police had already stopped traffic on the road. There was a car crash up ahead and both of his daughters died from injuries in the crash.
His oldest daughter, Hailey, was only 19 years old. She died in that accident along with her 17-year-old sister, Shelby.
According to a report from the Sheriff’s office, the sisters were in a Chevy Cobalt heading east on Ira Hill Road “when the vehicle crested a hill and crossed into the opposite lane, striking a second vehicle. That vehicle, a West bound 2016 Jeep Cherokee, was occupied by Robin Latham, age 59 from Tully NY.”
Robin was in stable condition at the Syracuse University Hospital after the accident. There is still an active investigation into the accident, and they don’t have any solid answers yet.
They did set up a funding page to help pay for medical bills and funeral costs. It has surpassed the original goal.
The school district where the girls graduated also released a statement after the crash, saying: “This is an incredibly sad day for our students, faculty, and colleagues, and a tremendous loss for the entire community.”
May the girls rest in peace.
