For many years, we have been entertained by Ellen DeGeneres. For some, it was her comedy, and for others, her natural ability to connect with people.
The 66-year-old actor has gone through some difficult times in her life. In 2020, she was accused of having a toxic work environment behind the scenes of her talk show. It had been online since 2003.
The reports were that some employees said there were problems with sexual misconduct, racism, and intimidation. The producers were to blame and as a result of the difficulties, several workers would not take medical leave because they were afraid of being penalized.
At the time, DeGeneres apologized and took full responsibility for what had taken place. She said: “I’m in a position of privilege and power and… I take responsibility for what happens at my show.”
The show never recovered and it was shut down after 19 years in May 2022. Now, she is back again but this time as a state of comedian her show is on Netflix, and it is the ‘Last Stand… Up Tour.’
There have been many who have gone through a final tour and ended up touring again. It seems as if the comedian is actually going to call it quits.
She was asked by an audience member if she would return to films after the conclusion of the tour. She said: “Um, no, This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
She has also stated that she will be retiring when her tour comes to an end.
She posted an anniversary Instagram post and wrote: “I will be celebrating my 16th wedding anniversary on the 16th of August in Minneapolis filming my final Netflix special. What a day!!!”
“I’m so lucky to be loved by the most amazing person I’ve ever met. I love you Portia. You’re my everything.”
If she lives up to her word, she will be quitting and going into retirement as of August 16. We’ll have to see if she actually stays retired or eventually returns to the limelight.
