We sometimes hear things online because we believe they are beautiful and we want to share them with the world. There are also times when it may backfire.

That is what happened to one father who recently posted a video on TikTok after proposing to his 20-year-old daughter. He was giving her a purity ring, and I’m sure he felt that it was a moment that the world needed to see.

The problem is, when that so-called Christian content creator, Patrick surprised his daughter, Sarah, the world was going to take notice of it. It may have been a wholesome moment to them, but there was a strange vibe behind it and viewers were not very happy.

You can see Patrick talking to his daughter in the video clip and telling her that he is proud that she has remained pure. He then got down on one knee and gave her a purity ring so that she could continue her promise to him and to God.

He admitted that it wasn’t an actual proposal, but he wanted to show his daughter that he was proud of her. He said: “First of all, you’re 20 years old, and most kids your age are not pure. Well, I want to thank you for being here and give you something. Sarah, will you wear this ring as a sign and a promise to God and to me to remain pure until the day you’re married?”

After many viewers watched it, they had some strong feelings. Those feelings were not all positive and some were even calling it a matter of abuse.

Since people had so many strong opinions on the matter, the channel has gone private. There is still a strong debate taking place as to whether abstinence is the right choice or not, but this is perhaps something that is better left to discussions in the family and not shared with millions of people online.
