French Olympic diver causes stir online with bulge in swim trunks

This diver has certainly made a splash at the 2024 Paris Olympics, captivating audiences with his impeccable form and aquatic prowess. Born in 2002, he has also gained online attention for his swimwear choices, which have sparked a wave of playful comments and admiration.

One enthusiastic fan humorously commented that the only reason they love the Olympics is because of him. Others joined in, with one cheeky remark stating, “Totally cheating! Most divers have 2 legs, but he has 3!” Another admirer quipped, “He’s got the jewels!” The amusing observations continued, with fans noting that his speedo seems to be working overtime and expressing anticipation for his television appearances.

The diver, alongside his partner, is aiming for gold in the Men’s Synchronized 3m Springboard Final on August 2. The duo recently went viral for sharing a “thirsty” shower photo with the caption: “Welcome to Paris 2024.”

Despite the light-hearted attention on his appearance, this diver has faced significant challenges. At 22 years old, he underwent shoulder surgery in July 2023, just ten days after earning a bronze medal at the world championships. According to his Olympics profile, the surgery was necessary due to severe pain. In an interview in February 2024, he shared that careful planning was needed to determine the best time for the surgery.

After his recovery, he returned to training by October. He credits his mental performance coach for helping him regain his competitive form. The diver explained that he spent time watching videos of his  dives, analyzing his performances, and rehearsing on the floor to mentally prepare himself for competitions.

Diving is one of the most eagerly anticipated events at the Olympics, known for its breathtaking combination of athleticism and artistry. Each dive is a suspenseful spectacle, captivating audiences as athletes perform gravity-defying feats with precision and grace.

China has so far secured more diving gold medals than any other nation, surpassing the once-dominant United States. Chinese athletes Lian Junjie and Yang Hao claimed victory in the synchronized 10-meter platform event, earning China’s 49th gold medal in the sport. Although some records credit the U.S. with 49 golds, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) categorizes a 1904 win in the now-defunct “plunging for distance” event as  swimming, not  diving. After clarification from the IOC, China’s achievement stands unrivaled.

Lian Junjie and Yang Hao’s top podium finish left British diver Tom Daley, a five-time Olympian and gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with a silver medal. Daley praised the Chinese team for their flawless performance, acknowledging their exceptional form and execution in each dive.

The Paris Olympics have certainly had their share of viral moments, with this French diver and his captivating performances both in and out of the water contributing to the excitement.
