On July 26, a plane crash took the lives of three of the members of a band that is loved around the world. That southern gospel band, The Nelsons is out of Atlanta, Georgia.
The band members who were on the plane together passed away but there were also four others on the plane who died. The people who passed away included an assistant, the pilot and his wife, and another traveler.
The accident occurred in Wyoming around 3 PM PST. They were traveling to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when the accident occurred.
The group that manages the gospel band said none of the seven people who were on the plane survived. The accident is currently under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
According to a spokesman from Gaither management: “Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges, along with the pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa” passed away that afternoon. Autumn Nelon and her spouse was not in the plane with them.
The management group said: “They were brought to the hotel where artists were gathered with Bill and Gloria Gaither to pray, sing and embrace them in their grief, pledging to support them in whatever needs arise. Autumn and Jamie will return home for now to Kelly’s brother, Todd Nelon and his wife, Rhonda, to begin the hard tasks that lie ahead. Please keep them, the Kistler family, the Haynie family and the family of Melodi Hodges in your prayers.”
The Nelsons have been responsible for some very popular hits, including ‘Come Morning’. Some of their other tunes included O For a Thousand Tongues and Greater Things.
