If You See A Purple Post Turn Around And Stay Away! Here’s Why

There are times when we may see something and we don’t understand what we are seeing. This is sometimes easily overlooked but at other times, it could be dangerous.

If you happen to be somebody who enjoys wandering around and you see a purple fence post, for example, you really should know what it means. After all, if you make the wrong move, it could be disastrous.

A purple fence post is a message that needs to be understood by anybody who sees it. It’s a simple message that says “No Trespassing!”

It is still possible for property owners to hang a sign to let people know that they are looking at private property. Over time, the sign can deteriorate or it can easily be removed. Paint, on the other hand, stays a long time.

The first state to enact the purple paint law was Arkansas in 1987. At this point, there are 22 states in total that allow landowners to mark the property with purple paint on the perimeter.

On the other hand, there are other colors of paint that may be used in different states. This includes Montana and Idaho which use orange paint but the point is the same.

When the law first came into use in many states, the landowners had to use purple paints and signs. Eventually, however, they allow the signs to not be used.

So, if you see purple paint on a fence post or tree, don’t ignore it. Turn around and walk away.
