Cancer is a terrible disease to live with and unfortunately, it affects people around the world on a daily basis. Often, the news is grim but occasionally, we hear some good news and that is the case with Michael Strahan’s daughter, Isabella.
Isabella recently had an opportunity to do some celebrating. She received a brain tumor diagnosis and had to go through chemotherapy, but those chemotherapy sessions officially came to an end after eight months.
It began in October 2023, when the 19-year-old walked into emergency surgery after doctors discovered a brain tumor in her lower cerebellum. Since then, she has been going to Duke’s Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Durham, North Carolina her treatments.
Since she got started, she has been documenting her wellness journey on YouTube, including the initial diagnosis. She went through four rounds of chemotherapy and was happy to give the report that she is now finished.
“This [has been] a long journey, but I made it,” she said in a video. “And now I have to recover and get back to my usual state, which is going to take a long time. But I’m done with treatments.”
Many people were on hand to help her celebrate, including friends and family along with hospital staff. As she walked down the hall to ring the bell signifying her treatment was over, people were tossing confetti into the air.
Michael also marked the moment on Instagram, calling his daughter a superwoman. He said: “Ringing that bell finishing chemo and on your way!”
“You continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination,” he continued. “I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella.”
