As you get older, you tend to get wiser and you may also become more brave. There are some, however, who push the limits and they may cause quite a stir in the process.
Paulina Porizkova is one of those who has gotten a lot of attention in her lifetime. She was well known in the modeling industry and these days, she is sharing pictures of herself on social media. This includes some daring pictures in a bikini.
A lot of people were offering negative comments when she posted pictures of herself in a bikini. Rather than shrinking back and hiding from the negativity, she faced up to it and shared a message that is making many people love her even more.
Paulina Porizkova was born in 1965 and she was only 15 years old when she began her modeling career. Her picture was on the front of many magazines and she appeared on television shows, in movies, and on music videos.
Something else that she is known for is facing up to ageism, which is a problem for many people. She did this now that she is 57 by posting pictures of herself in bikinis on social media.
She said: “I am a 57-year-old woman, and it appears that in society when you enter middle age, you’re somehow deemed unworthy of donning a bikini.”
When negative comments came in, including her being labeled as too old for such endeavors or as a desperate grandma, she fired back. That is why she is an advocate for women who are growing older.
At one time, she did have doubts about aging. She said: “Since I was hitting my late 40s and early 50s, I think I figured, maybe he doesn’t fancy me because I’m getting older.”
She still said that she shared a special connection with her husband, up until the time that he passed away in 2019.
These days, she is shouting loud and clear that she wants to exist as an unaltered older woman. She expresses her appreciation for the physical markers that time brings our way, saying: “What I like about my face now at 57, it’s that it’s like a really good novel of the history of my life like it’s all written into my face.”
She also says that it’s important for society to change their view of aging as well. She wants more women to embrace the age that they have, saying: “We have to make older cool, I’m really trying, but we need more women to sort of embrace age and keep trumpeting it out there, going ’look at what I’m doing at my age.’”
We appreciate what she has done and the fact that she is there to act as a guide for many who are facing aging as well.
