Being safe while you are on the road is important to all of us. The unfortunate reality, however, is that far too many people are injured or worse as a result of automobile accidents.
In Australia, they are now doing something to make the roads safer for those driving at night. It’s a rather ingenious solution, as they are making the roads glow-in-the-dark.
It isn’t the entire road that will glow, but it is the lines in the road and other markings that will glow-in-the-dark. Those markings will help to improve visibility as you are driving.
Regional Roads Victoria is taking the lead in this comprehensive move toward safer driving. There will be certain roads within the state of Victoria that include photoluminescent paint on the lines.
Despite the fact that many are praising the initiative and the additional safety that may be available, others are pointing out the possibility of dangers. This could include the temptation of drivers to switch off their headlights while driving at night.
Despite the complaints of a relative few, the initiative is moving forward. They realize the impact it could have on driver awareness and road visibility.
It will, however, come with a costs. Using glow-in-the-dark rope markings could cost around $2.82 million. When it is done, however, it will prove to make the roads a safer place to travel.
