Mia Robertson: A Story of Strength and Inspiration

Mia Robertson, the youngest daughter of Jase and Missy Robertson from Duck Dynasty, was born with a rare condition called cleft lip and palate. This means that Mia has a gap in her upper lip that can also affect her gum. While it’s not a common condition, affecting only about one in every 1,600 babies in the U.S., Mia has shown incredible resilience throughout her journey.

At 18 years old, Mia has already undergone an impressive 13 surgeries to address her condition. Recently, she underwent her 14th surgery, and her family is hopeful that this will be the final procedure to solve her problem. Despite facing numerous challenges, Mia has always remained positive and become an inspiration for other children with cleft lip and palate.

To make a difference and raise awareness, Mia took the initiative, with the support of her family, to establish the Mia Moo Fund. The fund’s main goal is to spread awareness about cleft lip and palate and provide financial support to families who are also facing the medical challenges of this condition.

On Jase Robertson’s podcast, Unashamed, he shared an update on Mia’s condition, expressing that she is recovering well. He said, “She’s doing great. She’s turned a corner. Everything seems great, seems to be fine.” Despite the surgery taking longer than expected, Mia is now back at home and on her way to a full recovery. The Robertson family is deeply grateful for the prayers and support they’ve received during this time.

Before the surgery, Mia’s mother, Missy Robertson, discussed her daughter’s condition. People often asked her about the number of future procedures Mia would need to undergo, to which she always replied, “We just don’t know.” Missy explained that they trust in God and lean on Him for guidance. As Mia has reached the age of 18, she now takes the lead in discussions and medical decisions. This unique experience has reminded the family to surrender control and rely on their faith.

Mia herself is hopeful that she is nearing the end of her medical journey. With unwavering bravery, she declared, “Hopefully the last time I’ll see my doctors in this setting! It’s been a long road, but we are at the finish line.”

In addition to supporting Mia, the Robertson family has opened their hearts and home to a child whose mother was unable to care for them. This act of love and kindness truly showcases the Robertsons’ character.

Let’s all send our well wishes to Mia for a speedy recovery. She is a true champion, and her smiles and determination inspire us all.
