When you have a job, you often get comfortable with the situation and you may not be as cautious as you should be. We saw evidence of this when it came to a zoo keeper who worked at the Fort Worth Zoo.
Recently, those who were standing near the silverback gorilla enclosure saw something stressful and it shows just how careful we need to be at all times. Elmo, the 34-year-old silverback gorilla is not one to be trifled with, and a zookeeper almost paid the ultimate price.
When the video started rolling, the zookeeper was running for her life. Apparently, she didn’t realize that Elmo was out of the enclosure and she took off in an effort to get away from him.
As you can imagine, it would be impossible to outrun a silverback gorilla so she threw a bucket of apples to try to distract Elmo. She then ran inside an area to contact others in an effort to know what to do.
As they say, the tension was so thick that you could cut it with a knife and she managed to keep the gorilla’s attention away from her for a time.
Basically, she entered the gorilla enclosure without knowing whether it was safe to do so or not. It was a bad situation but they are praising the zookeeper’s quick thinking ability in handling a bad situation as safely as possible.
This is a video that reminds us just how quickly bad things can happen. You can see it here:
