Jimmy Fallon is scurrying to cover up a rac Ist skit she participated in twenty years ago when he was just starting out on his career path.
Because Fallon was willing to put on blackface to get ahead in his career – at the expense of black people across the United States – he is now scrambling to get his apology in front of as many people as possible.
Although Fallon has apologized for slathering on blackface as a way of making a joke about race in America, his critics think that his career might be nearing its end.
Because of the politically correct climate during the Trump Administration, people are hyper-aware of comedians and actors who have a dark history of engaging in rac Ist behavior like blackface and other scandalous situations.
Fallon now wants to cover his tail and make people forget about the terrible thing he did in 2000 while on the cast of Saturday Night Live. However, he is only talking about his history of blackface now that someone came forward with a clip of it and shared it with the internet.
“In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this,” Fallon stated.
The clip of Jimmy Fallon in blackface surfaced on Twitter recently and sent Fallon’s public relations team scrambling for the “right” way to handle his rac ist past. Fallon painted his face black when doing an impersonation of comedian Chris Rock.
Now that Fallon has made it to the height of the entertainment world, he wants to apologize for putting on blackface while he was trying to rise to the top. Although he was willing to do whatever it took back in 2000 – including putting on blackface to get a laugh – he now has a lot to lose if people do not forgive him quickly and forget his rac Ist act.
Fallon wrote, “I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.”
However, it does not seem Fallon has yet been held accountable. He still holds his lucrative job and access to his massive fan base.
Critics and offended fans are now calling for Jimmy Fallon to be fired. They want his show to be “cancelled” because he used blackface to accelerate his career despite complete awareness about its rac ist in tent.
When the blackface video of Jimmy Fallon surfaced this week, a Twitter user captioned it: “NBC fired Megan Kelly for mentioning blackface. Jimmy Fallon performed on NBC in blackface.”
Another person wrote, “Megyn Kelly was dismissed for being insensitive in merely DISCUSSING kids wearing blackface on Halloween. Jimmy Fallon actually WORE blackface while impersonating Chris Rock. He’s still working for NBC.”
People want Jimmy Fallon to face the music.
“I wish, they do realize they have a 0% chance of even canceling him, right? This was 20 years ago and nowhere close to career-ending,” a user wrote.
Do you think Jimmy Fallon’s career should be canceled for this?
