We have certainly had our share of loss this year. Celebrities have passed away, some who were older and others, who passed away unexpectedly at a young age.
We have the sad duty of telling you that yet another celebrity has passed from the scene. Bobby Rydell was a teen heartthrob in the 1950s and 1960s. Unfortunately, he has passed away due to complications from pneumonia.
Rydell died at the age of 79 due to complications from pneumonia. He was just a couple of weeks short of his 80th birthday when he died on April 5, 2022.
He was born in 1942 and eventually began his music career. His love of music began to show when he was only six years old and he said he wanted to be like a famous drummer. He began playing the drums when he was nine and as a teenager, he was cast on the Paul Whiteman’s TV Teen Club.
He would go on to have a very successful career that spanned multiple decades. During that time, he would have a number of popular songs, including The Cha-Cha-Cha, Wild One, and Wildwood Days. He sold 25 million records and had more than 30 songs in the top 40.
Many people don’t know this, but the high school from the movie and the musical, Grease was named after him. Rydell High now has a place in that history as well.
Rydell was also an actor, and he played a part in the movie, Bye-Bye Birdie. It is sad to lose such a talented individual.
The singer and actor was married two times. He married Camille Carmella in 1968 and they were married until she died in 2003. They have two children together. He then remarried in 2009 to Linda J Hoffman and they stayed married until he passed away.
