We are all going to go through difficult times in life but one of the most difficult things we could ever face is losing a child. It is not something that any parent should ever have to go through, but it does happen at times.
Michael Madsen, who you probably know from when he starred on Reservoir Dogs received a message from his son. It said the simple words: “I love you Dad” and that was the last time he ever heard from him.
Now, Michael is struggling to figure out why his son, 26-year-old Hudson Madsen took his own life. He was stationed in Hawaii as an Army Sgt. and he had just finished his first tour. Unfortunately, he killed himself by shooting himself in the head.
The father said: “I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy–my last text from him was ‘I love you dad.
“I didn’t see any signs of depression. It’s so tragic and sad. I’m just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened.”
Hudson was his oldest son. He was also married as of 2019, and social media posts from his wife show that they were not able to have children so they were going to go through IVF.
His wife also posted on Instagram just a week before he took his own life, saying she had a tumor removed. She spoke highly of her husband, saying: “I just want to give a shout-out to my amazing husband! Yesterday I had surgery to remove a tumor from one of my breasts and he was and has been so patient throughout this whole process.” Snapped at the Tripler Army Medical Center, a Department of Defense facility in Hawaii, Carlie continued, “We were at the hospital for about 7 hours yesterday and while I was in surgery he went to target and got me flowers, comfy pajamas, my favorite candy and a card! He’s also been amazing in helping with my recovery and I’m just so thankful…”
His 64-year-old father has really struggled with the fact that his son took his life. He said he had some financial challenges, just like everyone else, but he wanted a family. He also said his son was looking forward to the future.
We can’t even imagine how something like this would impact the family. We know that they are struggling, but we hope that they can find some comfort during these difficult days.
