Amazing Recovery of Rescued Owl: Shot with BB Gun and Trapped in Manure Pit

In a heartwarming tale, a wildlife center in Pennsylvania has successfully nursed a Great Horned Owl back to health after it faced a traumatic experience. The owl, named Lucky, was rescued from a manure pit where it had been trapped for two days. The poor creature was dehydrated, weak, and covered in layers of caked-on manure, requiring several baths to clean off.

A Long Road to Recovery

Upon his arrival at the Raven Ridge Animal Centre, Lucky required immediate care and attention. Wildlife rehabilitator Tracie Young, who lovingly looked after the owl, described his condition as “subdued” due to the exhaustion from his ordeal. Moreover, Lucky had suffered severe eye trauma, with a steel BB found lodged in his eye. It was later revealed that he had been illegally shot with a BB gun.

The rescuers had to patiently wait for the blood in Lucky’s eye to be absorbed by his body to assess the extent of the damage. In the meantime, Lucky received the necessary fluids and was tube-fed. Bathing him was also essential for his recovery process. Despite the challenges, the owl’s resilience was astonishing.

A Miraculous Rebound

Following thorough examination, the rescuers discovered the incredible news – Lucky had not suffered any permanent damage to his eye or loss of vision. This turned out to be a pleasant surprise for everyone involved. What seemed like an uncertain journey to recovery gradually transformed into a triumph of resilience and the power of tender care.As time went by, Lucky’s appearance drastically improved. His eye, which once showed signs of trauma, had returned to its normal state in just a few weeks. The wildlife center now aims to release him back into the wild in the Fall, marking the completion of an extraordinary transformation.

A Tale of Hope and Compassion

The miraculous recovery of Lucky the Owl is a testament to the unwavering dedication and compassion exhibited by the rescuers at the Raven Ridge Animal Centre. Their tireless efforts, paired with Lucky’s remarkable strength, have given us a reason to believe in the power of resilience and second chances.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone involved and the valuable lesson this story teaches us. Let us celebrate this heartwarming triumph and continue to share stories that inspire love and empathy for our fellow creatures on this planet. Together, we can make a difference.
