I had been married to my wife for fifteen years when I made the worst mistake of my life.

She reached across the table and took my hand. Her touch was warm, steady, and heartbreakingly gentle.

I swallowed hard, guilt and gratitude colliding in my chest.
“I don’t deserve your peace,” I whispered.
“Maybe not,” she said. “But peace isn’t something I’m giving to you. It’s something I’m giving to myself.”
