Shocking video shows elementary school principal aggressively paddling 6-year-old student

School district votes to bring back paddling for disobedient students.

A shocking incident, to say the least, took place at the Central Elementary School in Clewiston, Florida, on April 13.

Apparently, a 6-year-old student damaged one of the school’s computers and her mom was called to the school to pay the fee, which was around $50. To the mother’s disbelief, her girl was at the principal’s office together with a clerk, getting severely punished for what she did. A video footage shows the principal, Melissa Carter, hitting the girl with a wooden paddle forcefully. The other woman is making sure the child doesn’t move as she gets beaten.

The mom, whose identity has not been revealed, spoke to the local outlet WINK-TV. “The hatred with which she hit my daughter, I mean it was a hatred that, really I’ve never hit my daughter like she hit her,” she said in Spanish. “I had never hit her.”

Further, the mother said that she didn’t intervene because she wanted to get the whole thing on tape after she realized there were no security cameras in the office. “Nobody would have believed me,” the mom told the outlet. “I sacrificed my daughter, so all parents can realize what’s happening in this school.”

The principal started screaming at the mother as well.

After the incident, the mom took her daughter to the doctor’s to document the bruises and the red marks caused by the paddle.

“I’m going to get justice for my daughter because if I could not do it in front of her, I’m going to do it with justice,” the mom said.

At the time, the incident has been further investigated by both the Clewiston Police Department and the Department of Children and Families.

According to the State Attorney’s Office, no charges have been pressed against Carter and the clerk yet.

The layer of the girl’s family, Bret Provinsky, says: “That’s aggravated battery. They’re using a weapon that can cause severe physical harm.”

“The child is terrified, she feels vulnerable. There’s nothing she can do in the hands of these adults, who treated her so brutally, savagely, sadistically,” he added.

We feel very sorry for everything this girl was forced to go through and we hope that justice will be served.
