2023 has been a difficult year on many levels. It has now taken another turn, because Kate Micucci has reported that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has gone through surgery.

Most people are familiar with Kate because she played Lucy on The Big Bang Theory. She had a rather awkward part in the show but fans absolutely loved her and they still do.

Unfortunately, her character didn’t play for many seasons, but she was in the sixth season and then came back again in the tenth season. Her personal life has been shared on TikTok through her account, and recently she came on to let people know what she’s been up to.

She said that it wasn’t TikTok, it was SickTok for that video, because she had some news to share. She had an unexpected diagnosis of lung cancer and she had never smoked a cigarette in her life. Fortunately, the lung cancer was caught early.

She had gone through surgery and was still under the effects of the medication when she posted the video. She said that they were able to get it all out and that she was good.

Even though lung cancer is often associated with people who smoke, research shows that the number of cases has risen in recent years in non-smokers, particularly in women. This may be attributed to secondhand smoke, a family history, or pollution.

She explained that something strange showed up in her blood work that led to the diagnosis. It was one thing that came back very high so she went to a preventative doctor that did a few scans and they noticed a spot on her lung.

It’s been quite an ordeal that she has gone through but she says she will be moving slowly for a few weeks but will eventually be back at it.
