Magic didn’t happen, and this young girl tragically lost her life during this accident. At that time, she was only a 17-year-old with a huge heart.

Along with Débora on the road was Boots, but he was lucky enough to survive. He was later found holding onto Débora’s lifeless body when the police arrived at the scene. The loyal little pup simply refused to leave her side.

What makes this story even more heartbreaking is that Débora had just adopted the puppy, lovingly named Boots, the day before the accident. Poor Boots had been through a difficult time with its previous owner, and Débora couldn’t stand to see it suffer, so she rescued the little pup, hoping to give it a better life.

She started helping stray dogs in her town at just 12 years old, using her earnings from selling empanadas. She was also working on her criminology studies at the Centre for Integrated Studies in Quetzaltenango before her life was tragically cut short.

Her untimely death hit her educational center hard, and they shared their condolences, keeping her in their thoughts and prayers. And just a few days ago, on September 21, Débora’s family and friends said their final goodbyes at her funeral.
