We sometimes hear about people vanishing without a trace, but this story has a rather unusual twist to it. It involves a cattle farmer who went off to sell cattle 30 years ago, and disappeared.

Vasile Gorgos is that Romanian farmer who didn’t come back home after selling cattle. He is now 95, and he reappeared without any warning and he has no idea what happened to him.

That farmer would often contact his family while he was away selling cattle. When he left 30 years ago to do his work, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. That was in 1991, and typically he would be gone for a few days before he came back home.

At this point, however, the mystery as to what happened to Vasile will continue to remain a mystery. Not only does he have no recollection of what took place, he claims that he had been home the entire time he was missing.

After the cattle farmer disappeared, the police were contacted and they started a search. They were unable to find him but he found himself in September 2021.

It seems strange, and it certainly is, but he just reappeared by the gate of the farm. Reports were that a car was seen speeding away after he reappeared but they weren’t able to get the license plate number.

Strangely enough, the farmer was wearing the exact same clothes that he was wearing when he vanished that day. He even had a train ticket in his pocket that was there from when he vanished.

After being checked out, the doctors determined that he only had some slight neurological damage that is not uncommon for someone his age. He is able to remember some details about his life, such as the fact that his father was a merchant and where he was born. He does have difficulty recognizing his children.

At first, his son didn’t even recognize him. “We don’t understand him. He doesn’t know what he’s saying,” he said. “He talks to us about the period when he was involved in raising and selling cows. We ask him one thing, and he tells us another.

“Who knows where he has been, who kept him, maybe he was forced to work… who knows what kind of life he led?”

The family hopes that someone will be able to shed some light on what type of life he was leading while he was gone.
