Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Former President Barack Obama met in 1988 and married in 1992. The pair share two daughters, Sasha and Malia, and always seemed to have a happy marriage. Recently, however, Michelle Obama has been noticeably absent from several big events, including President Donald Trump’s inauguration, which sparked divorce rumors. The pair kept quiet about speculations for months, but Michelle finally set the record straight. She told the Work In Progress With Sophia Bush podcast that her life is busy.“That’s the thing that we as women, I think we struggle with disappointing people,” Michelle said. “I mean, so much so that this year people were…they couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing.”

Michelle Obama Doesn’t Like The Stereotypes
Michelle Obama said that it’s totally appropriate for a woman to make her own choices about what she wants to do, and just because she isn’t pinned to her husband’s side every minute of the day doesn’t mean they will divorce.

“But that’s what society does to us,” she said. “We start actually, finally going, ‘What am I doing? Who am I doing this for?’ And if it doesn’t fit into the sort of stereotype of what people think we should do, then it gets labeled as something negative and horrible.”

On Valentine’s Day, Michelle shared a picture of herself alongside her husband, and they appeared very much in love.

She wrote, “If there’s one person I can always count on, it’s you, @BarackObama. You’re my rock. Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentine’s Day, honey!”
