Linda Inherits Grandma’s Old Clocks & Greedy Brother Gets House, Turns Out She Got Almost $200K

Brian mocked his younger sister Linda when their grandmother Marlene left him her house and only gave Linda five rusty old clocks. Linda, however, was unaware of the treasure hidden inside those timepieces.

When Brian and Linda visited their grandmother, Brian couldn’t hide his sarcasm, taunting Linda about her academic life. Both had come to visit their ailing 90-year-old grandmother after she called them, requesting to see them urgently. Linda, a kind-hearted young woman, was deeply worried about her grandmother’s health and emotional well-being. She had lived with Marlene, taking care of her, before moving to the city to pursue her degree, while Brian, though present, was more focused on his own gain.

When they arrived, they found Marlene bedridden and frail. Linda ran to her, offering love and reassurance, while Brian, indifferent, only complained about the dusty state of the house. Marlene, though weak, handed both her grandchildren envelopes containing $5,000 each. Linda was emotional and grateful, but Brian was visibly dissatisfied, expecting more. He left without even thanking his grandmother.

Linda, however, returned the next day with an act of kindness. She told Marlene that she had added her own savings to the money and wanted to use it for Marlene’s eye surgery, but her grandmother declined, sensing her end was near. Linda, determined to make Marlene happy, took a month off from school and stayed with her, ensuring her comfort and care.

During her time with Marlene, Linda noticed how neglected the house had become and decided to use her savings to renovate it. She repaired the leaking ceiling and made the home beautiful again, just as her grandmother had once wished. Marlene was overjoyed, and for the first time in a long while, she felt peace and happiness. A week later, Marlene passed away peacefully in her sleep, as she had always wished, leaving Linda with a broken heart.

After the funeral, Linda and Brian were summoned to a lawyer’s office for the reading of Marlene’s will. Brian was thrilled to learn he had inherited Marlene’s house, a fact that Linda accepted with grace despite the renovations she had just completed. When Linda was handed a box containing five old clocks, Brian couldn’t hide his amusement, mocking his sister for receiving what he believed was a worthless inheritance.

Linda took the clocks back to the city, not paying much attention to them until one day she noticed an inscription on one of them that read “OPEN IT.” Intrigued, she opened the clock and discovered a note from her grandmother. The note revealed that the clocks were 100-year-old timepieces crafted from rare metal and worth $40,000 each. Marlene had known all along who deserved the best, and Linda’s quiet, selfless nature had been rewarded.

Linda wept with gratitude, feeling her grandmother’s love through the ticking clocks. She chose not to tell Brian about the clocks’ true value, letting him remain content with his materialistic inheritance, while she cherished the priceless gifts her grandmother had left behind. In the end, Linda understood that love and thoughtfulness were worth more than any house or material possession.
