Lady Gaga Was $3 Million In Debt And Bankrupt After Monster Ball Tour

When most of us think about celebrities, we feel as if they have the world and everything they could possibly want. It might come as a surprise you, therefore, that Lady Gaga found herself in dire straits.

Although Lady Gaga has a lot of money these days, she went bankrupt after her Monster Ball tour. She ended up with some $3 million in debt and it was not a very good time for her.

When you consider the fact that she is been able to come back from those days and is now doing well with a small fortune to her name, it’s quite amazing. She has a very successful career, with a number of Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Song, she won a nomination for Best Actress in a Star is Born, and many others.

Looking back a few years ago, however, the story was different. The 38-year-old came out with her first album in 2008 entity quite well. She won 13 Grammys in total, did a Super Bowl halftime show, and toured seven times. She has a very loyal fan base as well.

At one point, however, things were not exactly going her way. It was her second tour that cost her a lot of money.

She said: “I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of The Monster Ball [between 2009 and 2011] and it was funny because I didn’t know!”

She added: “I remember I called everybody and said, ‘Why is everyone saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five No. 1 singles.’

“And they said, ‘Well, you’re $3 million in debt.’”

Never one to stay down, she did end up working her way out of debt and has gone in the better direction to a great extent. According to Forbes, she was worth about $150 million in 2020.

That being said, she never thought that the music was about the money.

She said: “The beauty for me about being an artist is that the dream will never die, because I’m not obsessed with material things and don’t care about the money and don’t care about the attention of the public, but only the love of my fans, so for me it’s about how much more devoted, how much better an artist can I become.

“It’s honestly true that money means nothing to me.”
