The neighborsinsisted that they were not mistaken, because this did not just happen once but repeated for many days, so they decided to tell me about it.
So I decided to find out the truth about this. Before talking to my brother-in-law frankly, I wanted to catch him red-handed.
How could a kind brother-in-law who always loved my sister now turn into a heartless man when she had passed away less than a month ago?
I thought to myself, if my brother-in-law really had a new life like that, I would take custody of my sister’s child. I couldn’t leave the child with such a father.
I decided to rent a hotel near my brother-in-law’s house to sneak over to see what was going on at night.
Around 9 o’clock, I went to my brother-in-law’s house and stood from the distance.
It was true that there was a strange woman in my sister’s house. I was both heartbroken and indignant, so I immediately went closer and knocked on the door to see for myself who that woman was.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw the back of the woman who looked a lot like my sister.
That was because ‘she’ was wearing the same dress that my sister often wore, with shoulder-length hair like the one my sister was cooking in the kitchen. I was startled for a moment. Hearing my voice, that person turned around. I was sh0cked when I looked at her face.
It wasn’t my sister. It wasn’t a strange woman either. It was my brother-in-law’s face.
I stammered, unable to form a word, while my brother-in-law seemed embarrassed. I asked:
– You…what are you dressed like?
My brother-in-law looked surprised at first, but then he seemed to understand something and nodded. He said:
“My little boy kept crying for his mother’s milk. I had to wear his mother’s clothes and a wig to look like his mother so he would sleep peacefully.”
Hearing him say that, tears naturally rolled down my face, I burst into tears for my sister’s family and my brother-in-law. He was truly a good person, whether in the past or now.
I suddenly felt that I was too much to doubt and have bad thoughts about him. Everyone felt sorry for my sister who died early, but the person who was more pitiful was probably my brother-in-law.
When he had not yet recovered from the pain of losing his wife, he had to take care of his son himself.
Now, I want to help him take care of the baby even more. When I have free time, I try to go to his house to help him cook and take care of the baby.
