Florida mother welcomes the arrival of extraordinary identical twins with Down syndrome.

In response to the discouraging comment from an individual who said, “I wouldn’t want those babies; if my babies were born like that, they’d be put up for adoption,” the mother had a powerful and compassionate reply.

Savannah Combs, a first-time mother, received the joyful news of carrying twins, which filled her and her husband with immense happiness.

Throughout the pregnancy, everything progressed smoothly, and the couple discovered that they were expecting two baby girls. However, they also learned that their identical twins would both have Down syndrome.

Initially taken aback, Savannah, aged 23, quickly realized that this condition would only make her daughters uniquely exceptional. She embraced the fact that they would be born with Down syndrome, understanding that there might be individuals who wouldn’t fully embrace her precious bundles of joy. Nevertheless, their opinions held little weight in her unwavering love and acceptance.

“Their condition may be rare, but to me, they are my precious gems,” the proud mother affectionately expressed.

After the arrival of their daughters, Savannah and her husband Justin made the decision to document their unique journey on TikTok. The adorable duo, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli, quickly amassed a following on the social media platform as Savannah shared updates on each remarkable milestone they achieved.

In a heartfelt TikTok video, Savannah shared the challenging decision she faced when doctors advised her to terminate her pregnancy due to the slim chances of her girls surviving. However, she bravely chose to give them a fighting chance, a decision that proved to be the right one. “Every prenatal appointment where they were alive felt like a blessing to me,” Savannah emotionally explained.

Born five weeks prematurely, the twins had to spend some time in the NICU. Today, at nine months old, they are thriving and exhibiting the same growth and development as any other babies.

Savannah further elaborated, “They’re known as mono-di twins, which means they had their own sacs but shared the same placenta, making them identical. Having mo-di twins is already incredibly rare, and adding Down syndrome to the equation makes it a one in 2 million occurrence.”

“They have feelings. They have a beating heart. They know how to talk. They know how to do things you do. They will get there,” Savannah passionately emphasized. “Yes, they may take a step behind, but they will achieve their goals. I’ve learned that these kids are resilient and joyful little beings.”

Savannah takes immense pride in showcasing to the world that having Down syndrome does not diminish the quality of life or negatively affect individuals in any way.

She wholeheartedly believes in spreading awareness and acceptance, affirming, “I want everyone to understand that they are just like us, and with determination, they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.”

Unfortunately, there are always individuals who choose to post negative comments and pass judgment on Savannah’s decision to keep her babies.

“I wouldn’t want those babies; if mine came out like that, they would be straight up for adoption,” one person wrote, displaying their lack of understanding and compassion. However, Savannah responded with grace and strength, saying, “Good thing they weren’t born to you and were born to me. God knew what he was doing by giving these babies to the right parents who would love them regardless.”

The presence of such negativity only strengthens the appreciation for a mother like Savannah, who wholeheartedly embraces her role in raising awareness about Down syndrome. She aims to educate the world that individuals with Down syndrome can lead happy and fulfilling lives, just like her two beautiful angels.
