Chris Stapleton Postpones Several Dates on his ‘All American Road Show’ Tour Due to Bronchitis and Laryngitis

Chris Stapleton had some unfortunate news to share with his fans on his Instagram page on Wednesday (October 11). In an effort to recover from a recent illness – which he described as bronchitis and laryngitis – Stapleton’s medical team is forcing him to postpone three shows that were scheduled for this weekend.

The 45-year-old had three shows scheduled this weekend – October 12 at American Bank Center Arena in Corpus Christi (TX), October 13 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston (TX), and October 14 at the Cajundome in Lafayette (LA). While he won’t be able to perform, he is rescheduling each event.

The new dates are as follows: Lafayette on Nov. 16, Houston on Nov. 17, and Corpus Christi on Nov. 18 – all taking place in their original venues. He will be honoring all tickets that were previously purchased, but he urged those who can’t attend to ‘please contact your point of purchase within the next seven days.’

“To all my friends in Corpus Christi, Houston, and Lafayette, I am very sorry to let you all know that I am unable to perform this weekend’s shows. I have bronchitis and laryngitis, and on doctor’s orders am on vocal rest through the weekend in order to heal,” Chris Stapleton wrote in a letter posted on Instagram.

The ‘Starting Over’ and ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ singer has been traveling the country for the past nine months for his ‘All-American Roadshow’ tour – which has been a sold-out success thus far. It all started on January 19 at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa concert in Riviera Cancun, MX for three nights straight.

Now into October, Stapleton is still performing – except for right now, of course – and will pick right back up where he left off on October 19 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. He’ll perform five more times in the month of October and will be joined by special guests Charley Crockett and Nikki Lane each time.

Aside from his three rescheduled shows in November, Chris Stapleton only has one other performance this year – on Nov. 11 at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, FL, where he’ll be joined by H.E.R. and Imagine Dragons. Once he finishes his rescheduled shows, he’ll be done until May 2024.

This Isn’t the First Time Chris Stapleton Had Laryngitis

While fans were generally upset and disappointed when Chris Stapleton announced the postponed shows, they also generally understood that these things happen and we often have no control over them. With that said, he did receive an overwhelming amount of support from fans as he continues his recovery.

Of course, this isn’t the first time he has been forced to postpone a group of shows due to laryngitis. In fact, he ended up doing so in October 2021 – initially moving his Oct. 16 in Sioux Falls to November before postponing three more shows in Cincinnati and Nashville to focus on recovering from the illness.

“I had hoped to have some good news to share with you all after this quiet time, but unfortunately the progress I’ve made is not enough,” he wrote. “Nothing is more personal to me than the experience of music. I’m eternally grateful for the privilege of sharing in that journey with all of you night after night.”

Chris Stapleton made it through that illness and eventually returned to the stage – just as he will in a week when he performs in San Antonio. If he can make it through the next 30 days, then he’ll have a much-deserved six-month break before taking his tour international for the next seven months in 2024.
