Cheers star Kirstie Alley has passed away at the age of 71 following a brief fight with cancer…

Kirstie Alley, best known for her roles in the television shows Cheers and Drop D..e.a..d Gorgeous, has passed away. Her age was 71.

The news that the actress had passed away due to cancer was broken by Alley’s daughters, True and Lillie Parker. True and Lillie have confirmed the news that Alley passed away on Monday.

They released a statement in which they wrote, “We are sad to inform you that our wonderful, fierce, and loving mother has passed away following a struggle with cancer, which was just recently detected.”

They proceeded by saying, “She was surrounded by her closest family members and fought with amazing strength, leaving us with the certainty of her never-ending pleasure of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.” She was an even better mother and grandmother than she was an icon on the big screen, which is saying a lot considering how iconic she was.

The children’s siblings continued by stating that their mother’s “zest and enthusiasm for life, her children, grandchildren, and her numerous animals, not to mention her unending joy of creating, were unsurpassed and leave us encouraged to live life to the fullest just as she did.”

In addition, they expressed their gratitude to the “amazing team of doctors and nurses” that work at the Moffitt Cancer Center.

In the final portion of the message, True and Lillie express their gratitude to Alley’s supporters by saying, “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this terrible time.”

Additionally, the remark was published on Alley’s Instagram profile.

After learning of the tragedy, Alley’s close friend and former co-star John Travolta paid tribute to the actress on social media.

“My friendship with Kirstie was truly one of the most important and memorable experiences of my life. I love you Kirstie, “he posted the news alongside a photograph of the deceased actor. “I have no doubt that we will cross paths once more.”

On Twitter, Valerie Bertinelli also expressed her sympathy for Kirstie’s passing, writing, “Oh Kirstie, Rest in Peace.”

The most recent video that Alley uploaded to her Instagram account came in September when she announced that she would be joining Cameo and that fans could use the platform to request “funny or heartfelt” messages from her. Her Cameo page has now been taken off.

In 1987, Alley shot to stardom when she was cast in the role of Rebecca Howe on the NBC sitcom Cheers. As a result of her performance in the television series that was set in Boston in 1991, she was awarded both a Golden Globe and an Emmy in the category of the outstanding lead actress.

After that, she went on to win her second Emmy for the role she played as Sally Goodson in the 1994 television show David’s Mother.

Alley is known for her roles in films such as Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Summer School (1987), Look Who’s Talking (1989), It Takes Two (1995), and Drop D.e.a.d Gorgeous (2015-2016), as well as her appearances on television shows such as Veronica’s Closet (1997-2000), Fat Actress (2005), Kirstie (2013-2014), and Scream Queens (2015-2016).

Her life was documented on the reality television series Kirstie Alley’s Big Life, which aired on A&E in the year 2010. In addition, she was a contestant on the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars, which aired in 2011, and on the 7th season of The Masked Singer, which aired in 2022.

In recent years, Alley has come under fire from those who believe she has made controversial political statements, in particular about the insurrection that occurred on January 6, 2021, and the war that is taking place in Ukraine.
