Young deaths are always heartbreaking. Comedian Dana Carvey lost his eldest son earlier this week. Keep reading to know more about what happened, as the coroner’s report has now been released.

Dana Carvey is best known for his work on Saturday Night Liveand on Thursday, his eldest child, 32-year-old Dex Carvey had passed away. He posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the loss of his son and also sent his thoughts to anyone who has lost a loved one to addiction.

The comedian wrote, “Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.” The statement was a joint one by Dana and their wife Paula Zwagerman. The couple confirmed the heartbreaking truth of his death because of an accidental overdose.

“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things–music, art, filmmaking, comedy–and pursued all of them passionately,” they wrote. Adding, “It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life.”

According to records, Dex died in Los Angeles at his home, and the case for his death is still open.

Dana and Paula tied the knot in 1983, and 32-year-old Dex was their eldest child. The couple have another son together, 30-year-old Thomas Carvey.

They added in their statement how Dex “made everything fun” and went on to say “when you were with him, you loved life too.”

They went on to say how “he loved his family; his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee,” the statement shared how “Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.”

Dex himself was an actor and a comedian. In 2018, he even opened a show for his father during the older Carvey’s tour.

“To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers,” the couple added, sharing in short how their late son struggled with addiction himself.

Later Carvey once again took to X and posted a picture of his late son as he was smiling. In the text he simply wrote, “F*k the tabloids. This is my boy.” The tweet seemed to be pointing towards how the comedian wants people to remember his son during his good times rather than focusing on his struggle with his addiction.

Another actor who famously struggled with addiction and lost his life recently was Matthew Perry. Check out the post below about his life.
