At least 15 fatalities in a severe road accident in Canada

On Thursday, at least 15 individuals lost their lives in a horrific accident that occurred in the province of Manitoba, Canada.

A bus primarily carrying elderly people collided with a truck at the intersection of two major highways near the town of Carberry in southwestern Manitoba, 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.

According to information provided by the police, the bus passengers were en route to a casino in Carberry at the time of the accident.

Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill, who is the commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, stated that unfortunately, at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.

The bus was carrying around 25 people, most of whom were elderly.

Ten other individuals were receiving medical care at the hospital. The police stated that both drivers survived and refused to disclose who was responsible for the accident.

Images from the accident scene showed wheelchair seats and walking frames destroyed near the tarpaulins covering the lifeless bodies.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau extended his deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones and expressed his thoughts for the injured.

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also expressed her sympathy to the families of those who died in the tragic accident.

This accident is one of the deadliest road incidents in recent Canadian history. In April 2018, 16 individuals died in the neighboring province of Saskatchewan after a truck collided with a bus carrying a junior hockey team on a rural road. In 2019, the truck driver was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The deadliest accident in Canadian history occurred in 1997 when a bus carrying elderly people plunged into a ravine in the province of Quebec, resulting in the death of 44 individuals.

In such tragic moments, everyone is united in the desire to offer support and solidarity to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in these devastating accidents.

It is important to remember to be vigilant and responsible when behind the wheel and to abide by traffic rules to ensure that such tragedies never occur again.
