A Selfless Decision

When his grandmother ran out of caregivers, the family considered sending her to a care home. But Chris made a decision that very few of us would contemplate – he uprooted his entire life and returned to the Philippines to serve as his grandmother’s full-time caregiver.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Chris shared, “She took care of me and I would hate to see her go to homecare, which is where I feel most grandparents go in America. They go to home care because nobody is able to take care of them.” He understood the importance of reciprocating his grandmother’s love and care by being there for her in her time of need.

“To see her forget who I am sometimes and for me to have to remind her,” Chris revealed, “That’s probably one of the more difficult things because it’s a constant reminder that life is very fragile, and it’s very short.”
