Dad & daughter recreate high school grad photo 18 years later – people look closer and spot one detail they can’t let go

As a parent, witnessing your children graduate from high school or college is an amazing milestone event.

Anyone who’s been through it will remember the overflowing pride, the untapped excitement that comes from seeing your not-so-little one finish a chapter in their lives where they’ve fought so hard to attain a certain goal.

Those happy feelings must have multiplied tenfold for Texas dad Dennis Roach in 2018, when his daughter’s high school graduation provided him with the opportunity to replicate a shot taken in 2000 – and the result warmed hearts all over the world…

Dennis was fortunate to have his infant daughter, Tori, present for his high school graduation in 2000. At the moment, the duo posed for a snapshot in which Dennis kissed his daughter – the perfect memento reminder of his special day.

Fast forward to 2018, and it was Tori Roach’s turn to commemorate her high school graduation. Needless to say, Dennis was present to celebrate the occasion, and the two came up with the wonderful idea of replicating the photograph they had taken eighteen years before.

Tori lies across her father’s arms in the revised version, kissing her cheek once more. She shared a side-by-side snapshot of herself from 2000 and 2018 on Twitter, but no one could have predicted how wonderfully it would be received.

“18 years later,” Tori captioned her post. It soon went viral, accumulating almost 150,000 likes and 57,000 reposts.

People expressed their delight at the snapshot in the comments section.

“Ugh this is just the sweetest,” one person wrote.

Another added: “One of the best pictures I have seen … I wish you and your family the best of luck.”

“Wow lovely…” a third said.

The detail that many people saw and couldn’t help but comment on was undoubtedly the most fascinating aspect of the two photographs. Specifically, Tori’s father Dennis does not appear to have aged at all in the years since the two images were taken.

“How old is your father,” mused one person. “He looks ageless.”

I think you froze your father until you grow up,” another joked.

Damn did you dad age any?” a third quipped.

Tori was taken aback by the amount of attention her post received, and she was later obliged to clarify that her father, who was 37 at the time of her high school graduation, was not single. She also spoke to Dennis’s pride’s people.

“I woke up and I had a ton of notifications. People had started sharing and liking and commenting all over again. My dad was really proud. We’re from a small town, so nothing like this really ever happens. And he was like, ‘That’s so cool!’”

She added: “It brought me and my dad closer in a way because we could share that moment, and I feel that not many other people get to experience that.”
