Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Willis, reveals her “paralyzing despair.”

The Die Hard actor’s family announced his startling condition in a statement, and the 44-year-old actress added that she has been on a journey of “self-discovery” since the announcement.

Emma said on National Grief Awareness Day Tuesday that she has developed new interests to keep her mind occupied while grieving.

Emma wrote the following description accompanying an Instagram video where she was seen gardening, playing tennis, and working out: “This past summer was one of self-discovery for me as I tried new things, broke out of my comfort zone, and kept myself physically active.”

“My sadness may be paralyzing, but I’m learning how to live alongside it,” she added before revealing the advice that her stepdaughter, Scout Willis, had given her. “My sadness sometimes paralyzes me, but I’m learning to live with it.”

“My stepdaughter @scoutlaruewillis taught to me that sorrow is the most profound and pure form of love there is,” she writes. ” I sincerely hope that brings you comfort as well.”

Scout was one of the first to react to Emma’s piece, writing, “This is such a stunning example! I’m so proud of you, and I adore you!!!” Many of Emma’s followers appeared to be at a loss for words, as demonstrated by the broken heart emojis in their comments.

Emma is the father of the actor’s two daughters, Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 8. Following his aphasia diagnosis, Emma, his ex-wife Demi Moore, and their daughters Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 28, announced that he would retire from performing.

Aphasia is a neurological condition that makes it difficult to talk, read, understand, and write. Aphasia is most commonly encountered in persons aged 65 and older.

“To the amazing people who are Bruce’s supporters, our family wanted to let you know that our dearly loved Bruce has been battling with some health concerns and was just diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities,” reads a part from the statement. ” We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

“As a result of this, and after much deliberation, Bruce has decided to retire from the career that has meant so much to him. Our family is going through a very tough time, and we cannot explain how much we appreciate all of the love, compassion, and support you have shown us.”
