It started as an innocent message — or at least that’s what she thought.
“Honey, don’t forget to buy bread when you come home from work and your girlfriend Valerie greets you.”
She only wanted to make sure her husband saw the text. A harmless joke to get his attention. But what happened next made her heart skip a beat.
Her husband replied almost instantly:
“Who is Valerie?”
She smiled, typing back:
“Nobody, I just wanted to make sure you’d answer.”
Then came the message that froze her in place.
“But I’m with Valerie right now. I thought you saw me?”
Her stomach dropped. Panic kicked in.
“What?! Where are you?” she texted.
“Near the bakery,” he answered.
Without thinking, she grabbed her keys and rushed out the door.
Five minutes later, as she was speeding toward the bakery, her phone buzzed again.
It was her husband’s final message:
“Don’t worry, honey. There’s no Valerie. But at least now I know you read MY texts too.”
Sometimes, the best revenge in a marriage… is a little playful payback.
