What began as a dream honeymoon in the misty hills of Shillong turned into a chilling tale of betrayal and murder. On May 20, businessman Raja Raghuvanshi and his new bride, Sonam, arrived in the picturesque city to celebrate their fresh union. Just days later, Raja’s decomposing body was found deep inside a remote canyon—his wedding ring gone, his identification missing, and his life brutally stolen.

At first, investigators suspected Raj Kushwaha, rumored to be Sonam’s lover, of masterminding the killing. But the truth that emerged was even more disturbing: Sonam herself had plotted her husband’s death. Pretending to be the devoted wife, she drew Raja into the hills while secretly arranging his murder. She had enlisted three accomplices—Vishal Singh, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput—tempting them with promises of money in exchange for his life.

Tracking Raja’s location through his phone, Sonam guided the killers to a narrow gorge, where between May 23 and 24, they allegedly ambushed and pushed him to his death.
