Heartbreaking Goodbye: Dad’s Last Message To Kids Amid Rising Waters

One brother remembers the heartbreak of hearing his father’s voicemail for him and his sister just before he passed away in the Texas floods.

At least 109 people have died and another 170 are currently unaccounted for as a result of the devastating destruction caused by the Texas floods.

The Guadalupe River overflowed after heavy rains in a brief period of time, causing the floods to occur early on July 4.

A brother and sister who heard their father’s last message to them after he had probably already passed away are among the many tragic tales that have emerged from this tragedy.

The son told the New York Post that their father, Jeff Ramsey, 61, is still missing and is thought to be dead after the surging water hit his airstream camper at the HTR RV Park in Kerrville.

According to Jake, Ramsey’s son, his father was staying with his 46-year-old wife Tanya and their whippet dog.

Jake said, “Once they realized there was nothing they could do, my stepmom was on the phone with her mom while my dad made a call to me and my sister. We were asleep. He left us a message saying he was not going to make it and that he loved us so much, telling us goodbye.”

“He called me once he realized there was no hope. It was a short voicemail. He just left me a voicemail. He said, ‘Buddy. I love you so much. It doesn’t look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her’.”

He continued by saying it was strange to hear his father say these things while seeming so terrified and panicked.

Additionally, he claimed that the voicemail for him and his sister contained the sound of rushing water.

Jake added that his father utilised one of his final moments to safeguard others, in addition to making sure a heartfelt letter was left for him and his sister.

He claimed that at 4.30 am, while his wife’s mother and brother were staying in a different cabin some 150 yards above the river, he called them to warn them.

Jake added, “He rescued them because they would have slept in and they would have washed away. That cabin was destroyed, completely underwater. He saved their lives.”
