Most of us know Mel Gibson because of the work that he does in front of the camera. He has appeared in many movies over the years, but he also does some great work behind the camera as well.

In fact, it was Mel Gibson who wrote and directed the movie, Apocalypto, which appeared on the screen in 2006. That was the same year that a number of other very good films were out, including The Pursuit Of Happyness, The Breakup, and Little Miss Sunshine.

It is rare that we continue to speak about movies for decades, but Apocalypto seems to be one of those movies that has made the list. In fact, people are still calling it one of the best movies of all time.

The movie goes back to the Mayan Empire, and as the Empire is on its way out, the leaders are becoming even more bloodthirsty. Jaguar Paw, played by Rudy Youngblood is one of the central figures of the movie, and his village is captured and set aside for human sacrifice.

We don’t want to give any spoilers, but let’s just say that there is a lot of depth to this movie but it is also focused enough that it is extremely enjoyable to watch.

With all the comments on social media, it is interesting that this movie is one that continues to thrill audiences, even those who have not seen it before. Perhaps this is one that is worth re-watching again.
